      Thanks Wayne,
Randy it certainly makes things a lot easier mate, I can be sure everything is true and straight , then it is also easier than hand shaping ( even though I stil enjoy that part too), and when it comes to scaling it up or down, that's quite simple.
Machining the sponsons today, so stay tuned.
      Cheers Mick

Very nice. What end mills did you use? Did you run a rough cut first, and then a finish cut with a ball mill?

5/8" for the roughing, 1/4" for the finish.

Waiting for the tub to arrive ... so I can start fitting in the needed go fast equipment.
Sponsons a month later would be fine.
                ( hint hint ) LOL

Mickie, sorry for all the questions, but I'm going to try to cut a cowl on the shopbot this weekend. I have my finishing tool path setup for 10% step over. Do you think that is too small? I'm also planning to run 2 in/s feed at 12k rpm with a 1/4" ball mill. MDF material. Any direction would be helpful. Thanks.

                        Shooter,
The questions are fine mate. depends on the required finish mate, but i have about a 0.125" stepover on a 0.25" bit, find i still need a little bit of hand sanding but mu chachine also isnt running for like 2 days straight.... With the feed rate, i run 110" /min feed rate, at 18000rpm, much faster and you will start breaking the bits. I bought some longer series bits from alibaba, they are 6" long for a 1/4, and 350mm (14") with a 5/8" but those are only for foam. Hope that answers your question

Thank you. This helps out a lot. Only thing missing is the depth of cut per pass? How deep do you cut?
