Paddy you need your wife on the boat with a meat carver ... those ducks didn't budge!

At least around here they will take flight when a boat comes within 30 feet.

LOL. Chuck the big problem is an old woman who has a daughter that owns a bread shop brings down about 6 loaves of bread to feed the ducks every morning so the ducks have no fear of people. Maybe I should push the old woman in the water. Did I just say that?

Naw ... just feed her to the ducks and they will sink!

They just passed a law here that has 25.00 dollar fine for feeding the ducks just because they become so aggressive.

I think when you look at it like this the amps required for an esc to do its job is minimal but the amps passing through is another matter. I must qualify this staement by adding I have NO idea what I am talking about. I just get a bigger one if I smoke one and enventualy reliablity happens.

Andy, as requested, here is a picture of Miss Duck Hunter. I like the pink color and so will Chuck.

                Hey Pat,

I have watched your video's of the Krabs running and I must say I'm vey impressed, are you and Andrew keen on coming up to Queensland for the Thunder Downunder next year ? Would be great to see a few new faces

I know its a little off topic, but what setup are U running in your NS3, very interested in seeing a video of it running.

And Holy cp, that lake that you run at is swarming with birdlife
I watched that first video and there must have been 50 bloody birds flying around.

                  Jimmy,
Andy and I would both love to come to Queensland next year but I will make no promises on my behalf. Andy is half way there but it is a big trip for an old geezer like me. Lock up your sisters, mothers, daughters, cats, goats, sheep and dogs if Andy comes. Also be prepared to see some records set if he comes. His boats are faster than a pick pocket on Friday night.
I moan a lot about those ducks on OSE but they are a sign of a good environment though. A good environment and an old lady that has to feed them that is. I will not be surprised if I do not get there one morning and she will be trying to push some whales in the lake. I need to give her a push I think.

I used to live on a lake when we were renting, it was full of Swans, Ducks and bloody water Hens. Dont get me wrong, I used to feed them all the time
I would always do two laps to scare all the bird life away but the water hens were too dumb to move, they just sit in the middle and watch . Because they are black they are really hard to see on the watee, but lucky for me water hens tend to sink when hit with anything travelling above 50mph

Sterlo I am planning on the FE thunder Down under in Brisbane next year, that is why I have stoped building boats and consentrated on set up of my DF33 & Whiplash sport 20. The DF33 is now a consistant 55-57 mph rocket on very average water conditions and the Lash is 61-64 mph in similar conditions. I am getting approx 2.5 min till the 3.2 volt cut off kicks in. I have been racing large gassers to get them to this stage and winning to I mite add. My problem is as a single father of two great kids ( my daughter wants to compete in limited 4s mono ) money is tight. Am saving what I can and I am reckoning on needing $3000.00 and 4 more packs to compete well and have a good holiday with the kids. So yes I will be there unless something big dollar wise comes up, fingers and toes are crossed. If I can save a bit more will sponsor Paddy to come and have a go in the 4s rigger races. Anyway enough of this off topic lets wait to here how fast Paddy gets his XS3 going with some new props I have done for him.

                        Cold weekend

Interesting Video, why the hell weren’t the ducks scared of that, I would be????

Don’t mention this weekend it has been a boat disaster, firstly my new prop shaft and 18.5V LiPo’s arrived on Friday – a good thing.

When I finally fitted the shaft, just after fitting excessive amounts of polystyrene after your excellent suggestion (given up on the jonnies by the way) it was about 25mm short. So no runs on Saturday but today, brother-in-law and I took his boat to the lake only to find the lake was frozen over, about 3 - 5mm thick of ice. The club members were helpful as usual and let me borrow a set of waders so I could get in and look for my original prop shaft.

It was very cold and now I have more bruises from breaking the ice with my legs, so walking is a bit of a pain in the leg at the moment. I didn’t find the original shaft but I think the club members were grateful for me breaking up the ice so they could have some runs later that day. In addition the waders leaked on the left leg so I spent the rest of the day trying to dry out (in minus conditions it was hard and cold) not a problem for you guys on the other side of the world who are just going through you summer.

The other problem I have is the 18.5V LiPo’s will not run through my ESC, I have tried but all I get is low range chatter, the ESC is only rated to 18V so I think I am pushing my luck and therefore I either need a resistor in line to drop the volts or get a new ESC, I think for now I will ask the electrical engineers at work to work out how to drop the volts and think about getting a new ESC in the background.

Enough of my problems you look like you had some luck with Mr Krabs this weekend minus the stubborn ducks, how is your build going?

                          Slim,
I only put one boat on the water in all of my four days off. My boss stuffed up 2 of my days off by making me watch some alcohol for 2 of my nights off. Can you imagine what it is like to sit and watch alcohol for 12 hours knowing it is not locked up and no one is watching. I am sure they do this to test if you are a security guard or a criminal.
Mr Krabs is waiting for a new Futaba FAAST radio to come. I decided to go 2.4 ghz after the antenna pole got broken and the prop chopped the antenna wire in several places. It is not a cheap upgrade but it is better than slamming Mr. Krabs into the rocks.
We are a long way south here but our waters never freeze and we get no snow in the city so I am lucky.
                          Paddy

Sounds like our water hear in NorCal, But 43degrees is too cold to go out and play in the water unless I have a new boat ready!

Randy I hear on the grapevine that many new things are taking shape in your workshop but one of them you just have to test before it is delivered to Tasmania. I want you to go have some fun with it before it comes my way. It is called "research and development" I believe and it is just the thing to fix a body that is recovering from an operation. Go get'em Randy.
