Guys it was correctly pointed out to me that the Neu stickers on my Mr. Krabs have incorrect spelling.
I could say that when we translate the word Neu into Tasmanian it becomes Nue but I would be lying. I often do not let the truth get in the way of a good story but this time I will just put out a contract on the sticker guy. @#$%#@ sticker guy you are dead meat.
Paddy you had the chance to tell folks the real story ...
A Nue (鵺) is a legendary creature found in Japanese folklore.
In Monsterology: A Complete Book of Fabulous Beasts, the Nue (Chimera japonicus), is depicted as a relatively small and misunderstood creature, whose reputation derives from the foul odor of the fumes it produces from its rear end.

Hi Paddy, I finally received my Mr Krabs today, after about 30mins of humping the box I managed to open it and was even more amazed.
I cannot find the proper camera tonight (must be in the boat widows car and she is out) so I took some photos on my mobile (cell phone)
Now I have some questions for you, if you don’t mind, and have some free time to answer them, very very appreciate your comments.
First question – do the wallplugs work in the tubes, I managed to fit the 8mm (bottom) ones but I can not fit the 10mm (top) ones. In the end I used some stainless steel shaft collars to hold the inside of the tube but I still have not figured out how to fit the 10mm ones. A CD came with the hull with lots of photos of other Mr Krabs with technical photos, one showing a split cut into the tube (presumably using a dremel) allowing the tube to expand more inside the sponson hole. My problem is actually getting the wallplug to sit still and not rotate whilst tightening the screw. Any advice would be warmly accepted.
My second question – what angle should I fix the struts (CF parts holding the tubes) I did not receive any fixing screws in the pack to active this but the inside looks like marine ply and therefore could easily accept self tapping screws, once again looking at the technical photos on the CD suggests this and also looks like the other chaps with this hull have either created copies of these parts with slots or have slotted the bottom hole to allow adjustment, that’s fine but it would be nice to have a starting point before I slot the struts. If at all possible please could do me a massive favour and measure the distance from the bottom of the hull to the centre point of both screws.
Third question – the top lid is ok, mine seems a bit twisted and pops up in one corner, is this sufficient to hold out the water or do I need to tape down the lid when running on the water?
Forth and final question........ for now – Did you get a front visor decal (sticker that looks like the cockpit / evil eyes) mine did not, but all the other Mr Krabs have them so I am not sure if I should moan at the supplier or simply copy the excellent look by going down to my local decal man (not yours by the way).
Thank you so much for even reading this post but if you do decide to respond then thank you so much in advance.
The very best regards
Slim
P.S. sorry for rubbish photos – I could take them again when I find the camera
Paddy, I have waited this long to congratulate you on a first rate accomplishment but I think it was the transvestite experience that made you understand how to dress a rigger for speed and HANDLING

LOL. Good to see you never lose your sense of humor Douggie
Thanks for the compliment too. I would love to see a picture of your boats. Maybe you have some on the forums I have missed. I read almost all your posts but I never see any pictures.
I hope you and the family are all ok.
I guess it will soon be getting cold your way and the next bout of cabin fever will start on the forums. It is good we have you to keep us on the straight and narrow..

Slim,
Congratulations and thanks for posting your pictures. I can't wait to see it finished and running.
I will answer 3 of your questions now and come back to the fourth as it is a little involved and I am in the middle of doing some programming on my FE Model Boat computer program and my beta testers will kill me if I stop.
Question 1...
The CD is helpful but do not mount the sponsons on the carbon fiber booms as they tell you to. I put the slits in the ends like they said and done up the wall plugs as tight as I could and one sponson came off and broke the 8mm boom.
Read carefully what I wrote in post #163 and #173 and I think you will get the idea. Take your booms to a hardware store and test some long wall plugs into the booms. I think I used 6mm and 8mm plugs. The 8mm plugs were a snug fit in the 10mm CF tubes. Scuff the inside of the booms up a little and paint some epoxy inside and also put some epoxy on the outside of the wall plug and then slide the plug into the boom until it is flush with the end of the boom. Be careful not to get epoxy in where the screw goes.
Allow 24 hours to dry. Slide the sponsons onto the boom and put the correct size washer on the screw and screw it into the wall plug. Mine were that tight I could not stop the boom from turning in my hand so I had to very carefully hold the boom with some Multigrips while I screwed the screw in.
Third question... Never send the boat out without taping the hatch cover in place. Your boat needs to be waterproof. Steven sells a very good tape called hockey tape (not to be confused with hockey mom). It is wide and gets a good grip.
Forth question...
No visor decals with mine. Now I feel cheated.
One day I will spend some time painting the boat and get someone with a steady hand to do a visor.
I will get back to your second question a little later. I hope this helps.
Paddy thank you so much, this gives a lot to go on, all advice is extremely welcomed, don’t worry about Q2 please continue with your life (much more important), I was hoping to get the girl on the pond this weekend but the batteries have not turned up yet so please don’t break a back.

Slim,
Study post #65 and look at the pictures well. You will see I did not use the boom carriers H&M supply but made a set out of CF that hinge on the 10mm CF boom. It saves two screw holes in the hull and is easy to adjust the angle of attack for the sponsons with this. I have not had mine on the water enough to play with angle yet. I just set it up to what I thought would work and left it there. With more on water time I will fine tune it.
I have a file that gives you a template of the carrier I made. I could email it if you want to copy what I did.
Probably not the answer to question 2 that you wanted but I did not use H&M's boom carriers.
Hi Slim and Paddy;
I have been screwing things together for over 35 years. I have learned a thing or two about screwing.
Paddy, if you put a little wax in the threads of the screw, just 3 or 4 threads near the tip by dragging the screw across some wax, bees wax is best but a candle will do. The screws will go in quite smoothly, the friction of the screw turning in will liquefy the wax and it makes a good lubricant. When the wax cools it returns to a solid state and the screw will not come out unless you ask it nicely.
I am a cabinet maker and if you try to drive a screw into a hard wood (Oak or Maple, Alder) with out wax it binds so bad sometimes that the screw will break. then you are really screwed.
I always want to know why something works.
The short answer is use a little wax on the screws and you won't need to hold the boom with pliers.

Viking,
Thanks for the reminder. My father was a carpenter and taught me that when I was a boy. I never thought of it. Ahh the things we forget. A little lubrication when we are screwing is always good.

Well Paddy I am a bit confused here Never send the boat out without taping the hatch cover in place. Your boat needs to be waterproof. Steven sells a very good tape called hockey tape (not to be confused with hockey mom). It is wide and gets a good grip.
My last girlfriend was a hockey mom, she was wide and could get a great grip!! I think you are talking about her and not the tape.
The tape is thin and sticky...................
