    CC Racing Storm Cat

My offseason build is going to be a new hull by CC Racing. Our district president had a brand new undrilled hull in his trailer that I was able to look at. The fit and finish were above average and there looked to be plenty of room for making it electric. I had been watching Carlo’s testing of it on JRCBD and it looks to be a great boat. Carlo is one of the top R/C engine builders in the world and a damn good driver, I”ve been fortunate to be able to butt heads racing against him the last two years and figured as good as he races and builds motors, his boats can’t be much different. So, I’ll be picking up an all white one in two weeks at the RCBWC finals at the Voodoo race.

I’m going to be using the new Castle 2028 Extreme with an MGM 25063 and 1/4” driveline. Lipos will be Revoletrix 10s2p 7400mah 60C.

Here are a couple threads for it:
This is a discussion forum that covers all types of radio control model boats. Gasoline two cycles engines primarily are covered but we have sections for electric power and nitro as well. If it moves on the water we have a discussion for it!

Thanks for posting - I've been eyeing that hull thinking the same. Can't wait to see your build. What kind of speeds do you expect/do you expect it to be comparable to a 29/30 CC mod motor? Just curious

Sorry, missed your post. Hopefully it'll be mid 60's and yes it should be comparable to the 29/30cc motors.

So, I picked up the hull this weekend. It's a good inch wider than the r42 it's replacing. There's tons of room inside and the cowl is perfect for taping. The fiberglass work and hull strength are great, no need for reinforcement. I still haven't decided yet whether to put the motor towards the back or where it's normally placed more forward.

Looks great Oscar, I'll be very interested in how it runs.

Got the strut and rudder mounted, need to order a longer rudder bracket and also a right hand tiller to clear the deck. Strut was mounted high to allow the top of the strut to almost touch the bottom of the tunnel but will require cutting the top of the strut if it needs to be there.

Jay, did you find any advantage to mounting the motor in the back? I'm still undecided. I ordered some shafts from CPMODS on jrcbd that have shorter prop shafts that are made for inside mounted struts so I'll have them if I do decide to mount the motor towards the back.

I put my motor in the back to allow mounting the packs between the rails. Keeps all wires short too. More than one path to good results.

Really cool looking boat, sounds like an awesome power system for it too. Have heard nothing but good things about the revos and that new castle 2028 is a monster.

Got a bit done, found a right hand tiller and borrowed a 2 1/4 rudder bracket from another boat. I initially mounted strut too low and moved it up. Holes that were drilled were used for water inlets. Still need to order a servo and decide where to put water exits. I'm going to start with 3/16 sized props first, so installed is 1/4 flex stepped down to 3/16.

Balanced at 32%, shouldn't need to go any lower.

                          Rudder, strut, water inlets done.

Was looking over some offshore power boat pictures and came across the AMG Cigarette, thoughts??

Looks fantastic! Wondering if you can use a KBB seal setup with no tape. Thanks the speed info - mid 60s - sounds great.
