    Rudder relocation. Predrilling HELP!

    Hey Guys,

I have a Spartan and want to upgrad my rudder to a 5 inc offset with dual pickups. It would be a much cleaner install if I could mount it to the left of the strut?? Has anyone done this? Is there any disadvantages? Will it work? I have set the servo to reverse(invert) and it seems like everything should be fine. Just wanted to make sure before drilling

    Thanks for any info

Change the direction of your motor and get a right rotation prop if you do that. All boats are designed to go right the best. When you mount the rudder on the left it will pull out of the water going right and give you less hook.

Is it necessary to reverse it?
I know most hydros use left side rudder, and standard rotation prop. Must be different on a v hull?

Wow thanks for the info guys!

I didn't think it was that serious. I think I will leave it on the original side. I did not know it would cause that much disruption. This is more of an upgrade in include the Dual pick up and the only reason I was going to do it on the left side was becuase the transom on the Spartan does not have factory predrilled molding.

Thanks for the picture Aleksey72. Picture is worth a thousand words! That's one serious back end. I think I will try and do something like that! I never thought of bending the push rod like that....

              Thanks again guys
