    26 inch Whiplash Scratch Build

Well Hello and here I go again...
This frame up is from the 4ft Gas version, I had a friend who is good with Adobe Illustrator shrink the layout small enough to fit a 28 x 24 CNC laser cutter.

My last scratch build turned out really sweet... better than I ever imagined. This build is a little more complex, huge amount of prep work none of the cross sections fit they all need sanded to fit... bummer. Everything else looks ok should be pretty straight forward once I get the frames to fit together nicely, a little patience and I know it will be top shelf material and I don't mean a shelf queen!!!

Cool, a few people have made 27" Whips. Eyecandyboats, aka Taylor Shaw scaled down a 21 Whip but, just a frame set. I still have one I have not gotten to. This should be a great build.

I sent Brian Blazer an email asking him to think about making these but, I never heard back.

Upon further inspection I found that all the pieces are cut with the grain of the wood running up and down instead of the grain running length wise... So I don't think It's gonna be strong enough, especially the sponson area where they blend into the tub. I know that is an area that takes a beating. I'm gonna try get my friend to cut us another one

When you do a second one, try adjusting the slots to fit better.

I own Eyecandyboats personal hull that my buddy bought from him. I want to remind you that if you scale one of these down to make sure that the tunnel doesn't get scaled down too far or else it'll be stuck on the water like mine is.

Its now lime green and when i got it, it had bud lime decals on it.

Larry Jaques 27" Whip runs excellent on UL-1 power for LSH and 1515 1Y for N2 Sport Hydro. He may have added some G-10 to sponson bottoms and maybe a few other smll mods. They go liike stink.

I've added 1/4" ride pads to the bottom just haven't made it out yet to run it. Been too busy running my vintage performance international sport instead.

I had similar concerns with a boat I recently built. The laser cutting table size was limited so I had to angle some of the pcs. They flexed like rubber! It made it hard to get everything situated prior to tacking, but the boat turned out straight and solid as a rock. Optimally, I think you want the grain running parallel like you said, but the resin and glass ended up stiffening everything up with no issues for me. Just my 2 cents!

that's a really proper looking hydro Shooter and I like the color, when you start w black as a base color everything on top just seems to pop out better. what size is it looks a lil bigger than the one im doing?

It's just under 34". I built it for the P-Sport Hydro class.

Hi Shooter, If I don't ask I'll never know is your hydro a whip or another set of drawings or did you design?

Hi. No, it's not a whip. It was a scratch build from a cad model. Here is the thread....
