    Bass's BBY Micro Turbine Hydro

Well I figured it was only appropriate to start my own build thread.

Much like Dr Jet Im building an affordable micro Hydro based off of bby micro hydro.

The hull runs $30 plus shipping.

Power and ESC duty will be handled by the $24 shipped Mystery stuff from E Bay.

Hardware will all be home made stuff as Im keeping it cheap. I was going to buy, but Im going to be building this hydro and 2 Hydromites- so Im just going to make a batch to fit all 3. I will be going 1/8" prop shaft I believe- not final (advice please!).

Servo will be a Hitec SG-60 as I already have it laying around.

Receiver will be an Associated TR203A.

Battery again will be a cheaper Chinese pack off E bay or similar- have yet to order.

Please note Im pretty new to the hobby and Im not an expert!

To stiffen the hull I decided to lay down some carbon mat. Its .05 Oz strand mat. I used CA glue to bond it to the hull and inital coat. After that I applied a thinned Epoxy solution. This mat is very thin and I didnt expect to much out of it, and thats what I got. Its stronger than before, but not super stiff by any means.

Currently working on a motor mount I want to have laser cut out. It will have the same cutouts as the motor to allow proper air flow into the can.

    EXCELLENT!!

Now you too can be Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control!! Welcome to the SLOBS way of boating.

I'm about to test out my MTH this weekend. I'll let you (and everybody else) know how the straight-shaft setup works.

    Keep up the good work.

Ya its been a month now and small progress has been made.

I got my motor mounts in along with 2 other goodies from Lazer Works.

Im very happy with their service BTW.

Heres a few pics of the motor mounts I had made. As you can see they allow for cooling of the cheap outrunner motors I plan to use.

I forgot the hardware! Well at least the strut and turn fin.

I will be using #4-40 button head cap screws, stainless steel of course.

I got a small supply of them, so thats what Im going to use. They should work really well for this application anyhow.

Local hobby store had it on a clearance table, they were going out of business. Good buy for $3.50
