AC Pro 40 II Q Sport

I decided to start a Q sport build with an AC hull I pretty much got for free after I sold the nitro motor that was in it. I told myself I'd save some cash using it but I think it's like buying an aquarium the tank or hull is the cheapest part of it.
I'm building an 1/8 scale ML kit as well so this build will hopefully help with the learning curve.

I'm using a Neu 1527 1.5D, Castle Hydra Ice 240, with parallel 6s Revolectrix packs in MBP "easy move" battery mounts. I have a pair of 3700's and a pair of 5000's to try. The motor is held with a bottom mount from South River RC and the collet is from MBP as well. I machined an oiler tank that attaches to a butch block stuffing tube mount.
I used 6mm bullets on the motor and 8mm Jeti anti-spark bullets on the esc and batts.

    Here's what I started with

Stripped out and sanded and pieces cut for bulkheads

This is the oiler tank that I came up with that would fit under the hatch.

Some 8mm parallel connectors, gotta love Sugru.

The battery trays are sweet I got a second pair for the scale build.

I lined the tub with CF and glued in the bulkheads.

The battery tray mounts and bases with blind nuts for the esc and servo mounts glued in.

Next was paint, graphics and clear coat. I wanted to do something military to pay respect to my Dad and I came up with this CF-101 Voodoo theme.

Here's before the clear coat, I used Klass Cote for the paint and clear, it's nice stuff no problems spraying with an airbrush.

The clear is done and now hardware is re-installed after mock up.

My sub hatch needed a bulge in it to clear the motor, my first attempt worked not bad I made a wooden frame around the spot and used a heat gun.

I had some work on the cowl to do, added a bigger lip on the front and some cowl locks that will hopefully keep it attached and now I think it's ready to test.

There's a guy in our club running the nitro version that goes pretty good. Can't wait to try it out when the weather smartens up a bit.

Has anyone heard of a 36" Mutt hull? It's a sport hydroplane, kinda heavy. I buddy in my club had one for sale, not bad but, never heard of it before. Looks similar to this hull but, canopy is very different.

I think there are 1 or 2 Mutt Sport 40's in our club on nitro and they do pretty well too.

I picked up a new Sport 40 nitro boat from a club member to replace my tired old Phil Thomas, it's the twin to my FE with a MAC .45.
It will be cool to have both versions for testing setups.
