I've started my cat build. I would like this to be electric but dont have the ~$700 to go brushless so I will use an echo trimmer for my powerplant. My main goal is just to have fun with this project. after I modify the engine(which btw was free from a mower shop because was tagged as broken but ran on the 3rd pull at home) I expect to go ~45mph. So far I spent
~$18 for all wood
$35 for gallon of fiberglass resin
$6 for the cloth
$7 for 3 tubes of epoxy
running total about $66 give or take. I got everything from homedepot.

What size is the hull???? Where did you get the plans???

I scaled it so It would fit the length of the wood I got. Its around 46inches. I used the plans from here

What kind of wood are you using? Looks pretty thick. Build looks good, nice to see you have clamps to keep things square, I'm worried it might be a little too heavy with that wood.

1/4 inch for all the the spants and 3 3/16 pieces glued together for the the langspants. I will sheet with 1/8. I was told buy the designer that weight in these boats are not as critical as you would think because they are using such a big motor with a lot of torque. But running nitro or FE you have to worry a lot more about weight
