Wayne are these drag hulls available for us to purchase yet ? I know they were not yet available on your last build, also there was a cowling issue. I would really like to have one .....DJ

Olwarbirds .. the hull is likely available, yes.
The drag cowl shape was a question initially as it is an aerodynamic nightmare for a standard fast electric setup ..
However the weight and cg shift in this hull allowed that change.
I moved motors and batts around more than once in #1 to sort handling .. production of a cowl was deemed foolish until that was sorted. ( although I did have a standing order for whatever we could get ! )

A cowl exists for this hull as a 'standard' sports hydro .. the drag cowl with it's prominent cockpit and lower trail is nearing completion.
Below are 2 pics.. one of the actual in cutaway form, other what I did to the full length std cowl to emulate the aerodynamics ..

                  what I have done
                  cowl1.jpg

                  What it will be soon

I followed build #1 and with it being the prototype this makes total sense....glad its sorted out now....I want one!!! I have a thing about trying to make things go faster than maybe what they are suppose too

                        Quote for the year ....

All these things we run are only toys, mates .. no toy lasts forever... the trick is to make them go faster than practical towards their inevitable ends ... because then it's fun !

applies to whatever you run ... air, water, land, full or scale ..

Ive 2/3rds a shelf of podium collectables from oval racing , combat control line, rc jets, shooting .. always for fun.
Im an accidental winner almost apologetic if your effort didnt make the grade ...

SAW is maybe my next adventure.. I support a few there now.. might coinsider the event myself soon :whoot:

After a lot of thought I gave up on the second 40" hull .
Not the hull shape or fitout, just the second hull itself was needing far more TLC than I could justify.
I paid nothing for it including delivery..which details it's true value.
If one arrives here at least as good as the first, id pay for that !

I bought a white Aeromarine 45" Thunderbolt, that just didnt survie the maiden.
Aeromarine after some discussion replaced it with same..red top, white bottom
                          BigRed was born !

I later fired her up on 12S1P(50VDC) with Castle2028(780Kv) and SF300 esc,,, sounded like an angry bandsaw at 40k rpm !!!!

That is not so bad noise wise Doc. Should be good on the water. Looking forward to more noise out of her. Maybe in a more "self propelled" fashion.

                            BTW: diggin' the oil fillers

The oil fillers were an after thought ! ..
Was planning for inboard oil cups.. but the space is more limited in the rear than expected..
however Im impressed the bling factor

The W drive is sourced from http://hyperprod.bizhosting.com/index.html
Be patient.. work is great but dispatch speed not so ~$250USD

This has been 5+ months in design and various build stages...
The gearbox needed some work to spin free unloaded..
The distance between outputs is 50mm... between output shaft centers at prop is 70mm.. and those S bends for brass output shafts was a long term work of art to release the flex under load....

Have no idea for on water performance .. but I have a smile at the ready ......
Already run one of these hulls as a single with the very same motor/esc/cells.... easy 75mph

...... wont know how this one goes until it does
