When it came time to put your water pick up in, what was your logic behind putting it where you have?

I think it was just an honest mistake, happens. This is a great build! When you let off the throttle or get on plane water will make its way into the tunnel but I mean we're talking this 1/20th the time on the water, with a hot setup that thing would never be in the water electronics would burn in less than 1 run.
That style water pickup relies on water pressure that builds as speed increases its not like a rudder mounted pickup. I am not surprised you got "some," cooling there are a lot of experienced members posting in this thread I would take the 10 minutes and drill holes in the sponsons for pickupsComment

it is a really nice build, I should have complimented you on a job well done before jumping on the water pickup. My apologies. I really wouldn't wait until you upgrade motors before making the cooling pickup change. You have to much money tied up in the build and I can't help but feel your one lucky guy so far... I suppose you have heard enough about it.

Beyond that, I obviously didn't think too much more into its placement.
Yeah I'm still learning, from memory I sore a photo of a similar pickup when searching google images. Then I got into the build one night and put it all in without giving it a whole ton of thought.
I appreciate everyone bringing it up, I wont learn without some pointers / criticism. That's half the reason I have photographed the last two builds, so people could point me in the right direction.

A tp4050 2390kv motor using a swordfish 220pro plus 2-6s would work very well as a 4s motor. It should net around 60mph with a good prop. 5s could be tried once boat is well set up and running correctly. The combination was recommended to by someone that really knows his stuff and builds some of the fastest cats around. It's a great optionComment

Thoughts on props? Inward/outward spin?
Got a FlySky FS-GT3B and a Traxxas 2075 servo in my sights. I love my turnigy t-180, I can't get that esc hot if I put it in the oven - works great. Maybe two of those for this build, who knows. Still probably 3-4 weeks before the hull arrives anyway.....Comment

FELLA, you say its a fast set up, and in my other post they say its a 4s motor. I wanted to run TP 4050 2390kv on 5s. Fluid and Fella need to TALK and ill LISTEN! I want to go faster too. I also want to try TP 4050 2600kv on 5s. Ive worked out the cooling problem. I think I will run cool under the 5s voltage.Last edited by rude5150; 07-03-2014, 08:49 AM.Comment
