    New to brushless

Hi all. I have a polystyrene NQD 26" mosquito craft mono hull to play with. It came with 2 x 380 size brushed motors and I can walk faster than it goes.

I know it's not a very good boat, I don't mind, it's all I have and can afford. I would like to stick some power up its transom to see what it's capable of.

I'm looking at getting a brushless set up for it.

I have purchased a water cooled motor mount, adjustable stinger drive, 3/16 flex shaft assembly and made a battery/servo cradle. Now I'm looking at a getting a brushless motor, lipo battery and prop. Any suggestions (apart from tossing it in the bin) would be well received.

I have included pics of the boat (disregard the motor, it's just for show) to help with any suggestions you may have.

    Cheers, Brett.

I am all for being hard headed but your are better off buying a new boat that size
Rtr Verses piecing together motors esc shafts props etc for that boat. It will cost about the same or less

That hull will work but you better beef up the transom for the hardware to bolt to,
Or it will rip out from stress load put on it.
You can make it run pretty go with a cheap HK motor and esc.

What lipo cells do you have on hand or do you want to run in it ?

Syma" twin motor. I have a Feigao 3660 1898kv in it on 4s, single drive,

Hears some vids of a 27" one when done right.

Nothing wrong with that! It's about all I'm looking for.

          I was thinking a 2300Kv 4 pole leopard motor with a 120amp ESC turning a 42mm 3 blade prop on 4s 65c, based on a little research.

Would that be a good combo?

            That should work,
It Just a little high on the kv for 4s setup and that hull.
I am running a 2700kv in my modded 26" Rio ep,
But I just run it on 2s and 3s with speeds of 30mph to 44.5mph tops now.

Might have to re-think the KV. Thanks for the advice.

That's what I did for my first "Fast Electric" boat. Ahhhh The memories.
Originally had a Johnson 785 brushed motor in it on 12 of the old round cells. Then an Ammo 2300kv motor on the same old cells with a 437/3 blade prop. Here's a video from the archive with the Ammo. This is all before I ventured into Lipos.

                Go for it man.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

So should I use the 2300kv but downsize the prop? That boat was going quite well.

                    785boat,
I have no idea how you posted a hydro when we are looking at a mono setup.
That thing rides on a pocket of air most of the time at high speeds.

                    TH no,
Lower kv cooler running and also you can go up in cells or prop up down the line for more speed.
If it is setup with the right kv and esc from the start.

What cell volts do you want to run in the setup ?

Probably 4s 65c at this stage.

Its not that simple. That boat was a labor of love. Probably 15 hrs modifying it.

I would go for a 1800kv to 2000kv than you could run 3s to 5s tops,
And be a cool running setup to.
Hear a very little bit of info in this build thread and some pictures.

Like I said about the transom in this vid.
