I am about to start a build for a MMP Rapid. Just gathering parts and pieces. So far I have the hull, stinger, rudder, a couple of different motor mounts...etc. Any advice in advance is appreciated. I plan to post details of my build as I progress...with pictures of course.

the 4050L is an older motor they have an updated version now. Both are great choices, me personally I would run a 4092 TP motor 1550-1600 kv. make sure you have good packs and start small with props!Comment

Picked up two different motors - Leopard 4082 - 1600KV and a TenShock 2250 - 1500KV. I can't decide which one to try first. The Leopard is definitely a bit bigger motor capable of more current and is rated to 3500 watts. The TenShock is a 2500 watt motor. I have the carbon fiber MHZ mount that I can use but I don't like it that it does not support the motor in the rear. For these motors that are this long, it would seem to me that the rear should be supported. I will post pictures soon of the different mounts I have. The Leopard is a 40mm diameter and the TenShock is a 38mm. Depending on the mount I go with, I doubt I will try them both so I need to decide which one pretty soon. I also got a SeaKing 180 Amp with 5.5 mm bullets to go all around. Also will be using all SpeedMaster Hardware...stinger, rudder, and trim tabs. I plan to run this only on 6S. I am not looking for a lightening fast boat...just a fast boat! ....maybe one that will give my gas boats a run for their money. :) Any opinions on the motor of choice???Comment

Cant decide on which motor so I have not mounted anything....I picked up another motor - a Neu 1515 1.5 /1500KV. I wish they were all the same diameter so that I could try them all and see which one performs the best. So now I have 3 motors for this boat...a TenShock 2250 - 1500KV , a Neu 1515 - 1.5 / 1500kv , and a Leopard 4082 1600KV. What do you all think would work best???Comment

I made it to the pond today...for my first with the Rapid hull / Leopard 4082 / Grim Racer S&B 42x55 / and all I can say is wow....it was really fast. I have some minor adjustments to make but I am pretty sure it was running somewhere around 45 to 50 mph.
Thanks to Brian at Rocket City for his help with the hull and OSE for some of my other running hardware. Both great places to get a boat running well. I will be glad to post more details of my build if anyone is interested in building one...or just message me with questions.
This is a beautiful boat (even prettier with decals) especially on the water.
ThanksComment

Nice job man I would say low 50s, wouldn't call it a slow build really most of us take 3 months to build a boat lol.Comment

I am still working on making it corner better but it does ok so far. It's really light and my next prop that I want to try is a 3 blade to see if it corners better or last resort add a small turn fin.
I didn't really buy this to race except maybe against one of my own boats. I bought it because to me it's one of the nicest looking boats thats out there.Comment

Here are a few pics of my boat after wet sanding / decals / clear coat. Not bad for my first electric... Now I need to build a small boat stand for it. Contact Rocket City Racing.. for all your RAPID needs. It truly is a well built boat.
