    Backlash V3

Just got a new Backlash kit in the mail. It's a version 3 and looks like it will be a little more electric friendly. I'm still waiting on the instruction sheet but got part of it put together. It will be set up with a Lehner 3080/8 and MGM 25063 and I'll be running 10s2p 7250mah. I'm hoping to have it all put together and tested before the Voodoo race in Nov.

This will be trimmed down once the bottom sheeting is on to allow for lipo movement.

Building a Blazer Marine hull myself. Im doing a Whiplash. Trying to find a carbon cowl. No one makes them anymore. Great kits to build. I built a sport 20 a few years ago.

Very well thought out kits. I did a sport 40 a few years back and love it. Are you building a gas whip? Check with Mike Luszcz (cybercrxt), he may be able to help. I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do for the cowl. I have the one from Blazer but it's going to be hell to tape.

Carbon fiber added to nose. Most of the framing is done, I will start sanding the bottom tomorrow in prep for the bottom sheeting. Will have to wait for instructions before starting on sponsons.

Dont really need any help. Unless he builds carbon fiber cowls.

As you stated you were already building, I didn't think you needed help with that. Mike builds a cowl that fits the whip 20/40 that might be built in carbon (if that's what you're building).

The mold for the carbon cowls is out there. Early on Brain Blazer made several for me and a friend. With Brians permission we ended up making a new cowl like the one pictured below. I believe Gizmo motors or someone in Florida has the mold and is producing them. Trying searching on Jims. The last picture is of the original Blazer cowl laid up in carbon by Blazer.

I talked to Gizmo. He no longer makes them. Not sure if he has the mold or not. I will search. Im sure some one will get around to making them.

Got most everything done, now working on rigging.

Sponsons were filled with 2 part foam. I ran out and had to order more. The sides got a layer of carbon fiber and the sponsons got 3 layers of light fiberglass. Turnfin side I tapped a piece of 1/4" aluminum for a backer plate. Foam was sanded to the shape of the boat and then a coating of epoxy then the top skin.

Outside coated with epoxy, wiped off and then repeated to waterproof wood. Motor in, stuffing tube done. Lipos fit, mocking up radio box.

Thanks Lenny, and I still don't have the complete instructions. Kit went together very easy. I only have one area I don't like but not much can be done at this point. Overall it came out very well. I should be ready to run by the end of the week.

I believe I'm about done. Still waiting on turn fin to arrive. I went through 6 cans of Duplicolor auto clear and I believe it came out very good. I haven't done anything with canopy yet.
