ok can some one please tell if i should be running with the current limiter disabled or enabled set up is sv27 2-2s1p 7.4 5000 mah lipos, 120 amp hydra , 1509 1.5y neu, kv 2400, octura x 642 s,b,42mm prop. help
Bonewar, where did you get a 1.5Y? would you recomend to others to use that motor or I was thinking 1515 1Y. The 1515 is a bit shorter than feigao xl motor I think so it should be all good correct? I can then prop up a bit and be ALL good on temps and amp draw? Thanks, sorry for all the questions but this will be my first "dark side" purchase.
mich the neu 1509 1.5y came from andrewg at fastelectric.com. i asked andrew what he thought would be the best neu for the sv (speed)-(120amp esc,2s2p 14.8v lipos,x442 s,b) quote from andrewg ,The motor would be a bump up from the stock motor but not wild – real great runtime and more performance 1509/2Y; kv= 1820 you can use all the props you want with this stock motor
A good alternative which is a 1509/1.5Y; kv=2400 this will maintain the balance of the boat but use a 42mm or so prop. So i took his advise with the 1509 1.5y and never looked back. the boat is faster then my other sv with a ammo(same running gear) in it so i am very happy. i don't think i would put to much more power to the sv its right on its design limits now , sometimes hard to keep her on the water , wants to fly.just the way i like it. mich IMO the 1515 might be a little heavy for the boat but could also be the extra weigh to keep her on the water. i know 1 thing she'll be fast. bonewar

Hi Bonewar. I run the neu 1515 1Y in my Toysport Syncron on 4s lipo with an octura X437/3 and run 5 laps of the full sized nitro course. Its ballistic and has won may events over the 3 years I have raced it.
In my twin maritimo I run 2x feigo10XL motors on 2x 120AMP Castle controllers with 2 x Thunder power 6s lipo 5000 25c packs. GPS run ( 3times just the be shore) 109kph. I run slightly modified Octura X442 left and right props rotating inwards, I cut them down to 40mm, but the set up would handel the stock X442 L and R props.
Fast One thats good info to know about that 1515 1y mate, sounds like it will fit the sv27 real nice , the syncron is not much bigger then the sv27. there you go Mich! that maritimo cat sound very interesting very close to the rpm's I'll have I'm hoping to take mine closer to 120 Klm , i know I'm pushing it but we will see! I'm starting out with x442 s,b cupped, detounged, then i am definitely going to try some 3 bladed props. would love to see some pics of your cat mate. thanks bonewar

No worries mate, we are leaving Australia on Thursday and going to see my wifes inlaws at Canada. I will be away for 2 weeks but I will take heaps of pics when I get back.
You say you are going to try some 3 blade props. I was looking at some small 37mm 5 blade props from Prop Shop as they stock L and R ones. They are in the U.K and I am not sure how long it would take to get them. But just for scale display it would be fantastic.
Bonewar I never really got a clear cut answer on the limiter setting BUT for what its worth myself and all the guy's I run with use it on all our boats and never really noticed any problem's. I know we push our Hydra 120's pretty hard and having the limiter on is like cheap insurance for the ESC I guess. If you are having some kind of problem with the ESC cutting out you can shut it off and see if it helps like UB did but if you don't have any problems I would leave it on. When I contacted someone at Castle about the limiter they basically said it would void the warranty if it was turned off.
Fast One mate those 5 bladed props sound awesome love 2 see some, how would they go on the cats, have a good trip mate , can't wait for the pics.Raydee thanks mate for your help , more than once, its always welcome , I'll be changing that straight away, o'yer i changed back cc 120 to 1.3 and back to normal so thanks again. bonewar

Tryed running the boat with (1.4) version on the cc120 big mistake , the boat had no power at all, like it was running 3/4 throttle .so i changed back to (1.3)version , also recalibrated the tx (endpoints) what a difference rocket ship performance. this 1509 1.5y neu is the goods, i was running it with a x442 s,b. racing with my mates (sv27's) 2 of them both with the ammo upgrade and 4s lipos, the boat would out run the other 2 in the straights, wow is this thing fast now, I'm only running it on normal timing, so i have the option to up the timing , prop and go even faster. so thanks go to andrewg for the right motor choice for this little sv27. bonewar

Bonewar I feel your pain with the 1.4 firmware. Imagine buying a $400 plus HV esc just to find out that the ONLY version it will run is 1.4. I went from a reg Hydra 240 with version 1.3 to a HV180 with 1.4 and lost over 5mph and gained 30* in motor heat. I emailed Joe Ford at Castle and asked him if there was anyway to get version 1.3 in my HV esc and he is looking into it. I hope he comes up with something for me soon....before the water turns to ice here in NY.
ray thats sux, sorry to here that. i hope castle is listening , i couldn't believe the difference between the 2. i thought i was doing the right thing buy changing to 1.4 . i hope they come up with solution for your problem soon. i 2 would like to buy a hv controller for me next secret project but not so shaw now.
