Good luck with the build. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
I think if you put this boat together, run it, and stick with it, it will teach you a lot about large FE boats. I can guarantee that your opinions and expectations for setups, parts, etc. will drastically change.

Your right about that. I have no idea as to what it will take to get speeds like this. I will build the hull as if it is able to do so and throw parts at it untill I find it. I my not even do a finished paint job untill I get to that point, so that when it's done. It doesn't look beat to death. I know that you had this hull at one time and you sold it in a hurry. I take it that you didn't like it much.

It was just too big for me.
It was difficult for me to transport in a car, and not legal for competition (60" Max)

I would hear to what Keith told you about cheap hardware parts...IMO don't justify saving Money with this top quality hull. Gill

That link is not to a big cat but a MHZ 114. I think it belongs to Klaus. Also doing about 115mph. Not an easy task for any boat.

                  115mph lol.

Theres a big boat moving. lehner 3060 and still 100mph a guy on the german forum got 161 km/h using leopard 1090kv 5692s on 10s but the boat seemed very light, the one I posted is clearly quite heavy just watch as it gets onto plane. 115mph for a 73" boat, lehner 3080s should do the trick...

Mike funny that, it use to be my favourite clip, well the other clip of that boat. Something about the sound of that, that makes me want to go get it lol... 3080 are too big I think, the 3060's should be better suited. This here is also a MHZ 185 70"plus. I think they ended up getting about 110 mph on that boat. Gotta love it

Much easier to say than to do. It would be the fastest of it's size in the world. Going that fast with such a big, heavy, and expensive boat is playing with fire...

Lol that video I believe is the one that sparked my interest in big brushless boats. Just the size and sound of the boat all together must make for a crazy experience. Ya you're right 3060s could probably do it I should have figured the user poervista that posted the mystic probably could have gone faster but I won't call him a wimp for staying at 100mph with a 7000$ boat lol.

-Keith you're right it would be playing with fire going that fast, anyone willing to go that fast shouldn't exactly be in dire financial straits lol.

It's not really about finances. A HPR 135 is not a cheap boat. A 73 is just a completely different animal. Why do you think so many 135s and 115s have went considerably faster than any 185? What works on paper does not always translate to reality. Saying that a given pair of motors is good for 115mph+ in a hull that nobody has ever gone that fast with seems silly to me, unless you have experience that implicates otherwise.

For the record, the fastest CRC 73 ever built ran low 80s, and took a lot of power to do so. I can say with certainty that a pair of 3080s WON't "do the trick" to get 115mph. I'm not trying to be an a$$ here, just being realistic. We need to be careful about giving advice without actually knowing whether or not we are giving factual information.

You're right an hpr 135 is not a cheap boat, and a 73 is a completely different animal. The differences will be even more obvious in a crash and thats the point I should have made more clear. I have crashed 80mph 40" cats and also crashed 25" 54" cats, I can only extrapolate and imagine the forces are just tremendous when a huge 70" boat crashes. I prefer to keep my pockets deeper when building big boats as the demands placed on the hull increase with each inch and pound added. If you can say with certainty the 3080s won't do it I'm curious then what you think will. A guy on the modelbaupirate forum got 161 km/h with twin leopard 5692 1090s on 10s with 2 swordfish 240s. You're right though the mystic is a different animal and I should have remembered this is a cheap hull compared to a c/k mystic. I'd like to think those motors in a mystic or hpr would do the trick, there is no guarantee but I can say most of us would turn to lehner if we wanted a big boat to make big numbers.

As you said no boat has gone this fast in this size range. Something tells me this project will never come to fruition anyway. I don't think the op even asked for motor advice I just started playing number games in the thread lol. Of course I know you're not trying to be an a$$ didn't take it that way, I should have recognized its a CRC hull and took that into consideration more and not just looked at the math.
