    Fixing Miss Vegas (FE)

I picked up a Miss Vegas Hull that was headed for the trash and did a quick fix job and converted it to nitro to see how much I liked the boat before I went to a serious paint job. I cut down the original wood blocks for the nitro motor. I cut a few pieces of wood to use as my rails and used a SV27 motor mount to hold the motor. Luck would have it that the SV27 motor mount fits perfectly inside the hull. I did a rattle can paint job for the short term and ran this boat on 4s and 5s. Well when running on 5s with some Spartans I lifted off and skipped the boat to where I put a sever crack in the left sponson. So I decided to take some pics of the boat and show the glass work and the new paint job I just finished.

Now we have some pics from my fresh paint job. No rattle can here. I use Nason 1 stage automotive paint. The color is Fuchsia.

I was tossing around a few ideas for a theme for this boat. I was thinking of doing a breast cancer awareness theme. Something like racing for a cure and have the Susan G kommen ribbons on the boat.

A Miss Baskin Robbins. Use the number 31 for all their flavors.

            A Miss Pepto Bismol

A Miss Mattel (the makers of Barbie) could put some Barbie stickers on it.

If it was a catamaran, I would go with a hello kitty theme. Just looking to put out a different looking Miss Vegas. Hardware and electronics to be installed tomorrow and run on Saturday.

Just finished cutting and water treating the electronics tray. Drilled a new hole for the secondary water pick up and got the motor installed now. (New Aquacraft 2030kv with used ul-1 water jacket) Installed a brand new Hi-Tech HS-646WP servo and mounting it in. Now back to working on the boat....

I like the Pink Panther theme. Do some footprints leading up to the pink panther. I am not sure if the Miss Vegas hull can handle anything above 45mph. Here are some more pics of the water lines installed and the seaking 120 is in place being held in by velcro and a holding plate. The esc has been sealed at both ends with silicone. The receiver will be in a small box with the leads passing through a boot (need to finish). I plan on running her on 5s with a 42mm prop. I ran her before this way and she did 46.6mph so I can live with that since this hull handles chop pretty well. Its nothing like an Insane FE hydro but this is more of a sport scaler.

So I got to do a few test runs and boy did she have some torque roll issues. Upon further inspection (not eyeballing) the flex shaft alignment was off enough that I pulled out the SV-27 mount and rails and pulled the stuff tube to re-align everything. I guess I blew this one. Oh well it gives me something to do. I also wonder if having my rails inset on the bottom of the hull may also contributed to the boat lifting so I am going with a more traditional motor mount to the bottom of the hull. I will need to lay some fiberglass to strengthen the bottom of the hull up as it is paper thin and has flex hence the reason I went with the first motor mount configuration.

So after trying to buy a motor mount a a discounted price and failing, I have decided to build my own motor mount. So I did some sketches and came up with the following. It will still use the SV-27 motor mount but will have added rails that sit lower to the hull and allow the motor to have more adjustment.

I had to remove the wood blocks that held the original nitro motor. I also had to clean up the entire inside and re-paint it to look good.
