These pics show the filler mixed resin in the steps and strakes. The resin turns white when the filler is added, the black parts are the normal infused resin where there is no filler.
It is a hoze you use on the vacuum site that prevents resin from entering the vacuum line, but also dost clog. So, when resin flows to it, it stops, and will continue to flow to other areas. You can actually calculate ho much resin to mix!!
A composite professional friend told me about it, says it works super well.
I have no doubt you'll be able to cut the hatch out nicely based on your previous work. Hopefully the area is flat to make your life easier. Any chance of seeing some more of your computer rendered version of the boat. It would be nice to see out of the water, the transom, bottom and front view. It's tough to see all the details done in carbon. Are you happy with your computer rendered versus the final result? I just want to see more! I look forward to seeing this updated, the more pictures and lots of detail would be much appreciated and I know others would enjoy that to. If your busy no worries, just wanted to ask.
There are several CAD pics on the first page of this thread, along with some specs of the hull and parts. But I'd be glad to post more detailed pics if you have any requests.
As far as reality vs computer, I don't think I am far enough along yet to tell. But I will definitely touch back on that question when this is all said and done.
Beautiful job, love the carbon! The boat design is up there with the best. I am biased towards mono hulls. You will make an excellent engineer, the ones with hands on experience are always the best and I have worked with to many to count over the years. I look forward to seeing this hull fitted out and hit the water. I can appreciate the time and energy put into it, impressive work. I couldn't tell your new to this stuff.
