    help with 40" project

to start out, plain and simple. i know NOTHING about electric boats. i currently have a 60" gasoline powered deep vee. looking for a new project i thre nitro out because of the price of gas so i looked over to electric. moving on to the project.
i have a spare 40" prather hull, its quite heavy but a reasonable wieght. i have been looking around the forum and youtube for setups on this size boat but to be blunt, everyone is running the supervee's. i've been considering a Feigao 8xl or 9xl motor. i'm not building this boat for competition and not looking for speeds over 40mph. i want this boat to have something to toy around with while my big boat is cooling off, and for a change of pace. any suggestions on motor, esc, and battery combos i should use?

    KB45 11XL on 6S lipo or 18 NiMH, X645 prop, 120 amp controller.

Over 20,000 rpm at 70 amps. Mid 30's.

    Water cool everything.

Dual motors/props would be ok in a cat hull.

My suggestion to "Cheezewizz69", with the a large prather hull is:

                KB45 11XL on 6S lipo or 18 NiMH, X645 prop, 120 amp controller.

Over 20,000 rpm at 70 amps. Mid 30's.

                Water cool everything.

My suggestion to "blastoff" is go for a dual outdrive, if he wants to be creative.

when i bought the hull it was set up for nitro and already has a shaft for the flex cable molded into the hole, i was hoping i could just utilize it and not have to start cutting it up. so i dont think i'll be doing dual just yet also, remember this is my first electric build, EVER, so i dont want to get complicated with anything.

and between lipo and NiMH, which will give me a longer run time.

You compare the "mah" rating of the battery. This is what determines the runtime. It is the same for a NiMH or lipo.

                      To calculate run times

Battery Mah rating (times) 0.06 (divided by) motor load in amps = run time

                      Example: 5000 MAH (X) .06 (divided by) 70 amps = 4.25 minutes of run time (times) 80% = 3.4 minutes

Should not run your batteries down more than 80%.

Skidooguy, what motors, batteries, esc's are you going to run and what is the length and bare weight of that hull. I would personally run a single powerscheme on a V hull. Cheesewizz69 follow ReddyWatts suggestions
