You can, but the mount isn't right !
The mount in your link is supposed to be a mount for a cat.
For the gecko you need to make your own mount.
You have to place the motor as close to the bottom as possible.
Just cut a piece of GF or CF-sheet that follows the shape of the bottom of the hull.

Well finished the boat, and i must say it is very stable for its speed, i hit 42 mph! Thanks Gerwin for the fast reply to my question, it was the last piece to the puzzle!

                            Cool gecko!
                            which motor and batts?
Mine has been tested a few times...now I'm adding cooling so I can safely prop up.

finally got mine tested and dialed...lots o FUUUNNNN!!!
I added water cooling to the motor and worked a prop down from 32mm to 30mm.

ran it with a 2s 2030mah pack and ran it for about 2-3 minutes in the first test.
...with the 27mm I had to toss it to get it on plane, but then it went fine. With the new prop it got up just fine and then went skipping across the water like a banshee on crack...it was windy and a light chop which made the SV27's and 1/10 scales flip a bunch, but not the Gecko! This thing does not want to flip or roll, despite the fact that it is barely ever in the water when WOT. I took it out for another test later because the guys in the club wanted to see it again...ran for 5 minutes in full abuse mode and it came back strong and cool. only used 30% of the battery!
I had one of the newer club members drive it...he said it was scary! I like that.
