You have got to get some more power to that thing. A SV set up would be good for you.Comment

Yea I agree more power!! you need to make the lipo and brushless jump you may also want to get a strut and rudder so you can get a little more adjustment in the field, but for what your now running you may not see much more speed, the lipos weigh about 1/3 less in weight or more and the power and run times much nicer, Have fun with your project, and do not give up, I did for many years and now regret it, but thanks to my son building his first boat from paint sticks, yes paint sticks almost entirely it re kindled my creative interests at 48 years old and now I am 52 (where does the time go?) any way just keep plugging along and the main thing is to enjoy your what you are doing.Peter Eells; Fun, and Helping others To Have Fun!!!

I just watched your video again to see what I thought, so KVA equates into RPM per volt now don't go thinking you will need or want like 3-5000 kva because that is not necessary you could do real well with 1700-2084 running a 4s lipo setup maybe 3000 but you shouldn't need that much, the lipo batteries are more expensive but pack a healthy punch, you can get more speed just by changing prop sizes with the above listed kva ratings try an 09 540XL with a 100 amp speed controller (like a Hydra 120 or something like that) I use a x438 prop on my boat but others are using like x442's and so on once you make these changes you Will notice a huge performance jump. Oh yea get yourself a wedge rudder with a water pickup in it and get a water jacket for your new motor try a Fegiao and there are several other kinds on eBay right now with a water cooling jacket.
Good luckPeter Eells; Fun, and Helping others To Have Fun!!!

you want to use an 540XL with that boat anything else would just be to small for the heat it will create to push your boat.Peter Eells; Fun, and Helping others To Have Fun!!!

What???
A 540 XL 9 ??? On 4s ?? What are you thinking?
The boat is only 21" long and 7" wide. The 540XL9 is way overkill.
Without spending lots of money stay Brushed for a while. Get a trinity monster max wild 19T, 550. Put a 1/8" Prop shaft W/flex cable and a GraupnerX430 prop.
You should be able to do that for about $65 plus shipping ; if your speed control will handle it. You may need a strut too that is another $20.
That should make that boat walk. Water cooling would be a good idea.
Good luck

Peells, I'm running a 10xl in my mean machine, and there is no way 4s will fit in this boat. I have trouble getting the new Venom 6 cell pack in. But thanks for the reply I do appreciate it.
Viking, I think you hit the nail on the head. Maybe I will just get a hotter brushed motor and see what happens. Although I do have a brushless motor that came out of a hellicopter laying around that might be fun.Comment

well throw a 3s in there and you will liven that thing right up they are smaller and lighter than your venom pack and have 11.1 volts compared to 7.2 volts,
buy the way my boat is only 8" wide and 28" long and I run a 6s with a 540 09XL and it hauls freight!! and is rather fun to drive check out my link under my signaturePeter Eells; Fun, and Helping others To Have Fun!!!

Hey Peels
Your boat is 7" longer and an 1" wider. that is a space 7"X8".
That extra 7" is on the fat end, not on the pointy end.
Hmmm, that is enough room for 4 (four), 6 cell Packs, laying flat.
I have a mean streak, you can see!
my apologies.
