thank goodness Dr. Jet is here to set me straight...I got jack for CF creations, that stuff is creative and cool.
Can I just take credit for Dr. Jet's ideas and get the plate? He doesn't need it as bad as I do...I promise to be really creative with it if I get it.

Dr.Jet, as usual a very neat setup. Why push/pull on the servo? no chattering?

Then there was this one. Does a "Jet Sauce" (a.k.a. graphite) ride surface count?

The Carbon Fiber pushrods may flex under compression. Using a "pull-pull" system on airplanes has proven to be very precise, and always works in tension. I just did it on the boat because I could, and because CF control linkages LOOK cool.

I agree, just wanted to know your reason, as boat rudders require a lot of force and I thought the servo may be hunting for the centre postion.

If you do not know. The doctor is a master of acheiving some fabulous results with FE boats on a budget . Also he loves the small hull origin of FE and I agree. But I have wandered of to larger hulls as this the way the hobby is developing. To make a small hull scream is still an art and they can be used at most ponds.

PS I still love my H&M Drifter Micro Cat and No Step One. I will not sell them and they are still powered on NI-MH and brushed power

Well DANG! I see I have another project in my future...

VERY nice work, Dr. Jet... That's really awesome! I've sent you a PM inquiry to get a little more info on that.

                    Wow... that's inspiring!

                      Darin,

PM replied. The little gearbox is hand-built from my AutoCAD plans. If I can find someone that can CNC cut CF sheet (laser, water-jet, router, whatever), I could produce a bunch of them from the 1/8" thick sheet I hope to win in this little contest. It would take almost no effort to re-size the plans for larger motors. The one you see in the previous photos is a 1" diameter outrunner.
