    BBY PT SS45 build

I have been building a set of hardware for the PT SS45 Sport Hydro. It will be running oval with 6S and SAW's on 8S. This is the start with a `1/4 flex shaft, Dual bearing strut.

        Will a 1/4 flex rob a little power, compared to a 3/16?

Not really, we have 4,500 watts that is 6HP, He could get by on 6S but when you run 8S that is a lot of power and it is just safer. We have been twisting 3/16 on 8S and were real careful on setup.

Nice stuff Randy. Would this hardware suit a Whip Sport 40?

I do not see why not it is adjustable from 5 inch rails to 4 inch rails.

Looks good ! Make sure you stuff her full of floatation. A boat that big will fill up with water pretty good and go right down. I just had a nasty blowover on mine and destroyed the hull ripping the right sponson completly off but it still stayed above water for a while during its last retrieval. BLAHHH !!! No way she can be repaired this time. Good luck with your build !!

Hi Randy, I will watch how you get this project together too, may want to do one for myself sometime. The 1/4 cable wont drag and is alot stronger than 3/16.
When you get ready to glue on the front canard be sure to cut out all the blue mark and the wing will fit in the slot, then square and level it up and mark the sponson side, cut that and use good epoxy to make a fillet.

I would like to see a final wieght number on ths project. Mine comes in at 13.4 lbs which is a little heavy for my likeing so im hopeing to remove at least 1 pound from the replacement hull. Please post your wieght when you get there, thanks,
                            Gary.

Thanks for he info Phil all those little things help.

Gary, thanks I will keep all in mind.

Ray, I am using almost all standard stuff with a little mod on the strut arm to custom fit. It is not really a big deal I do it for all my boats. But yes it can work on any boat. if I know the strut adjustment like Phil puts it .(bottom of transom to top of table)
