    Fantasm Build

Started on my first twin cat build, a 41" Fantasm. I always wanted a standard carbon look boat and the 41 is just big enough boat to allow me and my chubby fingers to work on lol.

I first made step plates for the motor mounts to fit flat to the hull as i wanted solid aluminum motor mounts.

Serius 1800kv 1518 motors from Kieth Bradley boats make a neat fit.

I found that studs instead of bolts was a little easier to work with. I also mounted the stingers as wide apart as i could, i dont know if this would make the hull a little more stable or not, but that was the theory lol.

Twin mounts from OSE glued and glassed in. I made timber shaft tube supports which were glued in place.

Rudder was then pre installed to get servo position & then servo bracket was installed. I liked the simple look of a carbon servo mount

I wanted to be able to mount lipo's in the sponsons if possible, but still bring them back in the boat if needed.
Currently Dr Wayne is working his magic on my esc's, but at a trial fitting the balance point with battery's in the sponsons was around 38% which im hopeing will be close.
I cut about 8mm out of the lip of the hatch register to make things a little easier to work on, and plan on bringing it further forward as installing the lipos are a stretch at the moment.

I think as close to the tunnel as possible and as low as possible to the sponsons bottom should get you the best performance. Looking good though.

Looks good, but like nata said...as close to the tunnel is where the stingers are most efficient. Also, usually those stingers have to be modified to allow for proper adjustment with that hull. Are you able to get the stingers neutral?

I was surprised as well with the length.. I have been searching to see if they can be cut down some.
Hey Rocstar yes i have modifyed the stinger adjusters somewhat and they have been set to Dr. Wayne's suggestions.

Looking good Jamie. Typically stingers are mounted as close to the tunnel as possible to help prevent pushing through the turns. Moving them wider won't hurt anything in the straights, and it probably wont make that big of a difference in the turns since there really isn't that much room for variation.
If you run the stingers at zero degrees and spin the props outward, you can get away with a fairly wided range of CG.

Feel free to drop me an email or message if you need help with the setup at all.
