Aquacraft top speed 2 electric conversion

Mtbenjamin77 and I acquired this hull in a trade from Onebadbaja and are now in the middle of converting it to a FE boat. The boat had the usual cracking accross the back of the hull which we have fixed with some carbon fiber. We also cut the center section out and made nice wooden box and stained it so that we can keep all the electronics dry. Benjamin77 should post some Picks so everyone can check it out and give me some feedback.

As for the set up I will be running a REK drive leg with a leopard 3674 1900kv teamed up with a seaking 120 esc and plan on running 4 and 5s Gensace lipos. I also have a lawless 3.5 on my stiletto that we may put on the top speed 2. The plan is to make a boat that will handle turns a lot better than the stiletto and with the addition of stumble blocks not spin out when Turing at speed.

To be honest, I wouldn't waste any time with the Top Speed 2. You'd be better off finding a Top Speed 3. The biggest downfall with the TS2 is getting it to turn without it stumbling and spinning out. But if you're looking for a project, none of that matters. Will the TS2 outturn a Stiletto - no.

No worreis devin, We'll make this a fun little boat. That's what it's all about anyhow, right??? This boat will be much better tuned than the stiletto. The limited trim range on your stiletto really limits the performace characteristics. This one won't have that issue.

Looks like I'm going to be testing some hull mods on this one. Currently I'm researching a non-trip and cornering charateristics of tunnels. This hull seems like it needs more lift to keep the inside sponson lifted to overcome the hooking issue. At this point I added the RG blocks, AKA stumble blocks, and a chine on the right sponson. We'll do some testing and report back

my father in law just gave me a top speed 2 for christmas nib(he bought it for himself years ago and didnt do anything with it, didnt even open the box)anyways, was the center difficult to cut out and have you got any dimentionf on the ply box that you fabricated?

The conversion is very simple. first determine what batteries you plan to use and get the dimensions. Then make sure the box INSIDE dimesion is large enough to get the battery in and out. For my most recent TS3 build the box was 60mm wide out to out and 450mm long. Then make sure the height is tall enough to allow for a ESC tray (I like to use a CF battery tray) and the ESC to sit on top of the battery. Fabricate the box out of 3/32 ply and use 1/8"x1/8" bass wood for the box lid to sit on. When cutting the hull, cut to 3/32 in front of the transom wood block. This will give you room to fit the aluminum transom plate with some extra room for the bolts to stick through. The battery needs to be ALL THE WAY BACK to the transom. The TS2 is going to be a tricky boat to trim out and get handling right. I have a build thread here.

thanks i will try and do a build thread,, what is the difference in the hulls between the 2 and 3, judging by your pictures the transum area looks different and the section between the sponsons is different as well are thee any other major differences?

There are alot of subtle changes that make a big difference in handling. The TS2 hooks real easy. The best solution I've found is having the CG as far back as possible and set the propshaft even with the bottom oh the hull and 0 degree trim for a good starting point. if it hooks or stuffs, lower the prop 1/16" at time until it handles better then use the trim to fine tune. Someone may have some more suggestions, but this worked out really good for me on my TS3. I only drove the TS2 once and it hooked and stuffed real easy
