    Mean Machine The Phoenix

Okay so I have bouncing around on some of the other threads so I wanted to bring this build to one thread. So I bought this MM straight from Aero Marine, it was one of their water damaged boats. It actually spent some time under water judging by how rusty the nitro motor was. I got her cleaned up and laid fiber glass down the insides and carbon fiber on the ride pad. I know most people take the radio tray out but I left mine in for now. I am running the leopard 4092 1430KV along with the Seaking 180 ESC. Sense this drive train just came out of my Spartan I started with the prop I was running there. X646. I had to elongate the holes on the front of the motor mount and build tabs in the back to align the motor with the original stuffing tube. I had the strut set up 3/16 but I noticed after I got the boat out of the water I noticed that it had slipped down to zero. That would explain why she is running so wet in the video. Also note I did not stay on it that long sense i did not have a water jacket on there yet.

I am still fighting with mine. I am running 6S 5300 180seaking leopard 4092 1473 and a X646 temps were all right at 100 but the speed was only 45. I have the strut up 3/16 maybe it’s not enough? it is also slipping out in the turns. CG is right at 10 inches. mayby i need to go down on the prop size?

        Hi traeside...
You need to have a gap of 4mm to 5mm between your drive dog and strut.. under load your flex shaft will shorten and your drive dog will bind on the strut..I had a close look at yor pic 4 and you can thats what is happening..I can see where the drive dog is grinding its way into your strut and I can see discoloration on yor strut and drive dog..Leave a gap and you will see a big difference in speed.. Cheers John..

i also found that i had 2 X646 props and the one i was running in post #2 was not sharpened correctly that along with not having a big enough gap might have cost me a lot of speed.
