    Jamie,

Good link to see what is needed to go from Gas to 8S FE. The other thing I would like to know is what is a Capacitor bank and an Antispark terminal bank? What is the function of these? Do I need a capacitor bank for the Castle Ice 200A if I decide to go 8S on this setup?

    Thx

        Dana,

Long time without reading you. I try to be selective with the advice but on a 1st build sometimes it is hard to do so. So I need everyone chiming in and/or refuting what someone else says if need be. That is the beauty of this forum. What is your take on the capacitor bank and antispark terminal bank? Are you familiar with that terminology?

        Thanks man

We received the hull parts. The previous images were from a display hull I used to draw on top for the paint scheme. This is the one that will be used in our project. Hardware is starting to arrive too.

Gyrotron in regards to your old post,
All the "cap banks" and even antispark things really depend on what equipment you end up using.

that hull looks pretty nice! different to most hulls!

              Iamandrew,

Yes, it looks like a Spaceship/Drone of some sort. I find it sexy too! I am problably going to go with the Castle Hydra ICE 2 - 200A or the Swordfish 240 and battery pack or a BEC for the Rx. I am researching about these two ESC's though much inclined to the Castle at this point. How critical is to have the data login feature offered by Castle? What BEC would you recommend for this application?

              Thx

Dana Wilson reglassed the underside and clamped down the canopy on a flat board to fix a slight warpage at the bed joint. He had some snow to deal with too over the weekend.

                  Hey,
I am building a 42" shallow v as well. I just picked up the leopard 56110 640kv. The motor looks sick, cannot wait to install her. I am not 100% sure on the esc and batteries yet but I am thing of using swordfish 300 on 12s with cap pool. I am hoping to get into the 50-60 mph range. I prob don't need the 300 amp esc but it cannot hurt to go oversized on this motor.

Are you using a DaVette hull too? I have been told the Leo 56110 is a great motor for this application but I want to build a 42" FE on a budget so I decided to go with the AquaStar T20 T3 which I think will give me plenty of power for the speed I am shooting for which is the higher 40's. I have selected the Castle Hydra ICE2 200A with a CC Pro Bec for this project since I'll be running 8S to10S I'll have enough headroom with the ESC I selected. I will be ordering the ESC this week.

No my hull is not a DaVette. I have scaled down a set of 48" mono plans and changed them slightly. The hull is constructed out of 1/8" plywood and laminated with two to three layers of fiberglass. The top of the hull is hand shaped foam covered in fiberglass. I am still using a 5" rail mounting system. I have access to a cnc router and made a custom motor bracket for the 56110 motor. Ill post pictures as the build proceeds. The smaller boat in the pictures is of my first 24" boat same plans as my 42" just scaled even smaller. The 24" mono is amazing I have a leopard 2860 on 3s and it screams. I don't have GPS yet but prob hits 50 mph

                          Hello Guys,

I finally received the 5" rails motor mount and the AquaStar T20 3T motor today. I spent sometime soldering the wires for the "Y" configuration because I will be running on 730Kv for starters. Here are some pics of the new motor and the hull receiving it's coat of primer at Dana's shop. I shot one pic with the new motor beside a PB 1800Kv burnt motor for size comparaison. Time has come to start building.

                            Hi zx11976r,

The Leo 56110 is a beast of a motor. The nice thing about the AquaStar motor that I picked is that you can run on either 730kv configuration or 1280kv depending if you go with a "Y" or "D" configuration. Let me know when you start a thread with your new build. I'd like to see more pictures.

Parts look great. Did you make a choice on the ESC yet. What is the wattage rating on your motor. I am still trying to figure which esc to get too. Also, I started a build thread. Search 42" custom mono with 56110.
