    MHZ Hunter 69"

2.jpgHello guys, i come from gas boats, the big ones, and after a lot of problems with them i decieded to do my next project with electric power, so here it is, 1,76 m. long or 69", really a big beast, i know that this will not be an easy build but i'm going to try it. So, my main target is the running time, here my expert friends are divided in the choice of the motors, they said that maybe 2 big brushed motors can give me more running time than the brushless (power consuption), what do you think?
I think everyone in this forum has seen the video of the Hunter Pier 57 with plettenberg motors, so it is not an impossible, as someone has already said. Thanks

    Hi Mario,

Indeed its very good possible to have this baby run FE. The Pier 57 was driving pretty good here in the Netherlands.
In order to have it run properly you need to make some modifications to the sprayrails.
They need to be shortened to remove lift from the back of the boat and have it run more loose and handle better.
A friend of mine is currently testing with this on his Hunter with twin Zenoah engine.

I will let you know when we have found the sweet spot so you can adjust your hull as well.

Im not into the big electric setups so I unfortunately cant help you with engine recommendations.

    Cheers,
    Remmie

Thanks Remmie, the pier 57 boat has that mod you're talking about? Where can i see some pics of your friend's hunter? I also saw that yellow hunter with blata 45 inside, called predator, did you see it? it runs very well but i don't know if the hull is original or modded, anyway let me know how goes the works.
I was thinking in some motor setup, in this case brushless, getting 2 leoprd 5698 with 2 10s 5000 mah pack in parallel for each motor (300 A esc), can i go over 10 min. runtime?
      Thanks

      Regards

Sounds possible to me to get near there with 10,000 mah to each motor and conservative propping.

Thanks "Make-a-wake", glad to hear this. Now I was wondering if it is possible to have a little more runtime with a brushed configuration, you have to consider that this boat will go with z-drives and i'm not sick of speed so don' have to reach 60 or 70 mph, i am satisfied with 40 or 50 mph. Thanks

I dont know of any brushed combo that will get that big hull to 40+ mph. I think even two 800's would struggle to get it to 30.

Hi "Make-a-wake", first of all, what's your name? What do you think about this big brushed plettemberg evo355-45-4? 2 of them may push quite well the boat, right? or not?
30 mph is a little slow, so if brushed motors (even the most powerful) can't go over, maybe i should forget about it...

Mario the Plettenberg 355-45-04 are well designed very potent motors and two of them may get you to 40mph but just , The 800's i would toss into a garbage can as they are no more than useless paperweights and no where near the output of the big Pletts.......Why would you even waste your time on two brushed motors that would cost you over $1000.00 when two 5692's at $250.00 would walk all over them without even breaking a sweat . A single Lehner 3080 at $800.00 could easily push that hull to 70+ mph

The days of the brushed motors are long gone - embrace the future Mario...........

Well guys, i've been busy with the other boat, the Apache, trying to solve some transmission problems.
Thanks Punisher, if you look at the third post of this thread, you will see that i also considered the 5692 with a big battery setup, and like you and most people say, brushless would be the best solution, right?
This boat is going to be a replica with a lot of details, will have even opening of the engine compartment (hydraulic arm or linear servo), and don't worry about the water, the inside will be completely isolated.
                  Regards
