Anyway, I decided on using the 2700kv 540L and 3s2p. I found a Lipo from Zippy that is a compact "space saver" size. I'll be running two 2700 3s 35c lipos in series which will give me 5400mah 35c and 189 constant amps. They are very compact and will fit nicely along each side of the motor for fore and aft movement to help balance the boat out.
Do you mean series or parellel??

Series of course will melt that motor.

A 540L is big but will do the job well and never overheat.

When I build another, I will try a UL-1 motor in there and see what this boat will do in spec racing, just for giggles...

      Duh......................sorry, parallel!!!

Thanks for the comments guys, Ray, I was actually thinking of maybe selling this one or building another if there is interest from a member that may not be confident enough to build it.

I'm using one of my favorite motors, the gold can turnigy that they dont sell anymore on HKing. They make an 1800kv as well and I have a couple i run on 4s in 30" or less boats.

Ray, I just checked out your youtube vids, looks like this hull can really scoot and is stable as heck. I didint know there were so many out there already completed, i never saw a build thread, did you have one?

Also, my motor is a whopper, 3656....................

No I didn't get the build thread done. It took me some time because I pooched the first rudder trying to remove a set screw.

I built mine basically the same layout as the stock RTR df23 but with better motor mount. Yes it's tight but, tricks of the trade help out with tiny bolts for 3mm gear.

I bought a piece of stick tack years ago and stuck it to the corner of my monitor. When I build and I need to put a bolt on with one finger magic, I use a hint smidge of stick tack on my finger tip and stick the nut on while turning the bolt. From there a 7/32" socket and 3" extension to tighten them up.

I think you made a good choice for cells & KV. Should be really cool.

What stinger is that? 1/8" bushings or 3/16"?? Length??

The driveline/hardware combo is one i have used once before, its 4mm all the way thru. I think its a real bargain and Frank(owner of promise hobby where I got my 47" kevlar mono and 39" Vader) is a great guy that NEVER screws up an order and gets it to you in a week or less. He makes these combo's in all sizes with progressive prices obviously.

I buy alot of my stuff from steven, like this hull, motor mount, servo, water exits etc............but every now and then i need a financial break..............

Here's the combo I got for this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130337245411...84.m1439.l2649

Here's the maiden, I'm very pleased with it and estimate it's speed in the low-mid 40 mph range..........any guesses??? Running the Turnigy 3656 2600kv on 3s2p with an x438. I decided to go with a 70a Redbrick ESC with added watercooling plate.....only 18 bucks for the ESC, and had a cooling plate laying around from a water-fried T120 from years back. The 540 motor was right on the borderline for the T60 I believe, so I gave it 10 more amps of room. Love it!!!!!!

I wonder what a X637 would do to that little bugger...

Holy Crap man - That's awesome. How much would you say you have into that build? Do you think the DF 26 hull would perform similar?

                  Thanks!

That would probably be the 'perfect' upgrade prop.................a hair less diameter to minimize torque roll and quite a bit more pitch, the run was almost 3 minutes long and everything was just warm................and the temps here have been 100*+ all week so the water surface temp is up there..............

Thanks Gopher, The hull is only 75 bucks from Steven here, The entire hardware package was $60 from Frank on Ebay, The ESC was 18 bucks, 2 x 3s 2700mah lipos were 18 each and I had the motor/jacket and prop.

Your DF26 should handle/run as well easily...........or better!! What motor/cells you got?

Well, i'm thinking about making the transition from my blast and go to the DF 26. Right now I have a Proboat 60A ESC, Leopard 3650 (2450kv), and both a 2s 25c and 3s 20c lipos.

I believe the Leopard is a 4 pole motor, It wont "overpower" your hull but it will get it scootin along, You may want to consider 3s2p and a larger prop first..................... or 4s and a smaller one.

You mean for the DF 26 or the blast? The blast only has room for one battery. Right now - running that hardware in the blast, even with the 3s nothing gets hot - just a bit warm
