Ron's FE30 P-Ltd Sport Hydro with new Turbine Cowl

The first FE 30 I've built with the new turbine cowl. Looks great and allows more leeway for inside layout.

Rear hardware with servo-rod pass-through tube (large diameter tube allows free no-bind rod travel)

A little dab of anti-seize on the collet threads allows even tightening torque (got this from Jay )

Cooling water inlet squeezed in keeps cooling line away from prop (learned this from personal experience )

          Ron's FE30

Finding room for antenna mount and leaving room for tape was a challange ; had to narrow a flat on the antenna fastening nut to have it mate properly under deck; used an o-ring to seal. (Ron will trim length once Rx is installed)

I'm curios about your rudder placement. The rule of thumb as far as I know is not to put the fin and rudder on the same side on a hydro ?

RCK, that "rule of thumb" is pretty old and no longer applies if the boat uses 'enough' turn fin. I find that with an angled or curved fin I get great cornering with the rudder to the right on three different sport hydros. One big advantage is the boat is much less sensitive to left rudder inputs and is less likely to spin out or flip if a left correction is needed - plenty of races are lost when a racer has to give it a bit of left to miss a buoy or dead boat. That alone is a big advantage in oval racing.

Here is a cool antenna mount that Brian fabricated using 5/32" brass tubing epoxied to the inside of hull. The plastic antenna tubing is a slip fit inside 5/32" brass tubing. He used small diameter fuel line to grip and seal plastic tubing.

Thanks Doug, will do the next build that needs an antenna using one of those. Ron sent me his antenna to mount so I did what I could. Still ample taping room. Oh, btw, I use internal antennas in my boats so haven't neded to improvise there.
