I'm not going to run that stock prop. I'll start with a k42 carbon. Your hydra should be fine but be carfull not to over volt it.

ya...was thinking that...i have two 5s thunderpower v2's that i was gonna start out with. castle has 6s all over their specs for the 240, so I have to believe that it will handle it. Thunderpower's site says 22.2v on their TP5000-6SXV....22.2V 6-Cell. I'll have to do some more digging on how to avoid voltage spikes!!! I don't think I'd be that much different from 5s to 6s... seems as though I would only potentially loose 4,000r's and would theoretically increase my current draw by 30 or so amps bring me to 120 amps calculated...so that's half of the 240 potential. i guess my main loss would be a minute or so runtime by running the 5s....

It's a nitro prop. I don't take chances with props. I stick to what I know is safe. It may be ok but I never tryed it before.

I will elaborate a bit more on why I prop & setup the way I do. I really don't know as much as you may think about power systems. What I do know is about how many amps a KB8XL & Feigao 9XL will pull on a 36 inch hull weighing about 6 to 7 pounds on a K40. So what I'm doing now is building all my boats around that spec. That allows me to buy power systems and prop leaving out the "what if" factor .

              Clean Up

I had a nice sunny day and some dry air. Perfect conditons for some painting. The nitro stains in this hull where just rubbing me the wrong way.

I'm gonna have to place my order this week...i can't take it anymore!!! have you found a 6mm to .187" coupler thats setup like a collet, or are u using the one that they sell here w/ 2 set screws on the motor and 4 set screws on the flex??? Once I mill out my motor mounts I'll have to start posting some pics... I don't think I'm gonna rip out the radio box though...gonna stick with the stock rudder setup for now. Handled well w/ nitro power...

I have an octura flex hex coupler. It came with the motor.

The motor mount is in an alined perfect. The rudders had to be pulled and mount holes in the blade redrilled. Seems the holes where off and the rudders where binding really bad. I freed them up alot. The order from horizon should be here tomorrow and I'll have the drag link and 2 more control horns. I scored a 144oz cen servo off ebay for 20 bucks. The store I bought it from is 30 minutes south of me and shipping is still cheaper than the gas to run down there...WTF?? Anywho that servo should be plenty. I ran into a road block fabing the radio/battery tray. I'm outa carbon fiber. A quick trip over to my guy in ebay netted me a 5x7 panel of 2x2 twill for 12.50 shipped. It's only .023 thick but it will be braced by the stringers and some of the kevlar composit I have left. I hope to be in the water this weekend.

Quick update: My CF plate shipped today. My horizon order arived yesterday. Tonight I'm attempting to rig the steering & drag link. Once that alined the rudders and stinger will be pulled and stern preped for filling and paint. It's going to be damp the next day or so. Paint will probably be saturday.
