    32" Mono New Custom Build

I've received enough parts to get started on this build. Here's a photo of what I have so far..........

    DSC02563.jpg

I'm still waiting for the stinger, rudder, trim tabs, servo mount, turn fins and some other misc hardware.

I want to start with installing the carbon/kevlar on the transon and hull bottom and sides.
First I taped up the entire exterior of the hull so as to protect it from damage and excess resin.

I cut the carbon kevlar to fit the transom and prepared the transom to be laid up.
In the meantime I wanted to prepare the drive system.

Here's my preliminary mockup for the drive system. It includes a stuffing tube support, 1/4" stuffing tube with oiler (to be cut to appropriate length at time of permanent installation), sealed 5mm thrust bearing, FC CF motor mount and a Leo 4082. I tried to make the bend as gradual as possible. The stuffing tube will exit 4mm above the apex of the vee. In the picture the stuffing tube will exit the transom approximately where the rubber grommet is on the tube.

I know upfront that its difficult to get on picture of how it looks in real life, but could you make a closup of your carbon cloth?

          Remmie,

Here's a photo from the website where I purchased the cloth.

What is the purpose of the extra bit of brass tubing that is sticking up by the tube support?

Ah yes so it does. Interesting design.

The small brass tubing will be connected to a fairly long piece of large fuel tubing that goes to a fuel dot that will be flush mounted on the outside of the hull. It makes for a very simple way to oil the shaft without even removing the hatch. The stuffing tube wil be sealed where the cable goes into the flex coupler so as to limit the loss of oil into the hull.

Some photos of the Carbon/Kevlar Layup. It turned out pretty good for our first shot at it.

                    DSC02575.jpgDSC02576.jpg

I added some bend to my stuffing tube. There red adhesive lined shrink wrap is there to act as a seal to keep the oil in the tube and not all over the inside of the hull.

Here's a photo of the fuel dot that will be used to fill the oil reservoir.

Here's some preliminary graphic logo designs I considering using. THe areas where there's no logos taped to the hull I plan to have some type of graphic design like some fake flame like on the JBS cat or maybe some water droplets and some pin striping. The paradigm logo is a restaraunt/bar here in town.

They look pretty cool and that colour blue(tape) is actually looking pretty nice ha ha I think Hycote sell thee equivalent colour in their FORD range. The layup also looks spot on! Are you keeping the boat white? Will you be adding colour to those decals?

The base color will be white with some kind of back ground graphic, then the logos will have the standard color. I'll also put some painted on hatches. I do like the blue color. that's why I was kinda thinking some kind of graphic like whats on the JBS cat. Nothing in stone yet just toying with some ideas.

Does anyone have any suggestions for sealing up this hull. I was planning on using two small hatch locks but I'm not sure now cause it looks as if they will leak. I'm planning on using some weather stripping on the ledge for the hatch to seal that up. Also, what about using an auto bailer? is it better to just try and seal the hull up as good as possible?

I use some weather stripping around my hatch but I still use tape. I thought about an auto-bailer but it only works when the boat is moving and mostly the water only enters up the drive line when it stops spinning so I decided against using one. With the hardware it's mostly best to get in all in place then unscrew it and add silicone when you are sure of placement. I use the aquarium stuff. I have had no leaks since. Only water that comes in, is through the driveline but your oiler may work as a double function and stop the capillary effect.

That blue flame pattern is nice!!!
