Ok here it is wet sanded out just before I sprayed some clear on it, little did I know that of course the paint would lift in a few spots, I was able to wet sand it out and you could just barely see a few slivers of primer, so one more coat of clear, better in some areas and lifted more in others, but one sponson sanded out nicely, now just one sponson holding me up. I noticed the clear wants to not dry shiney for some reason, and it seems to have bubbles in it, I noticed my can of clear didn't have a ball in it to mix it like the other paint cans. Can't wait for a air compressor so I can use my airbrush and some better quality paint. What do you think?


I think I am going to fix the one trouble area by sanding it down and prime paint and clear again, and hopefully that will take care of it. Its not perfect witch bugs me, but I guess I can get it the best I can for now and redo it later once I get a compressor, and move into my new house with a garage.

Remember the drill? spray on light coats almost dry until you get the preceeding color covered. I know it is a pain just don't rush it (you have high humidity don't you? try it in the early morning.
do you have the same kind of paint (clear and black) ? I asw a thread on ose here that a guy used dupli color automotive spray paint and he used like 3 diferent colors and a clear coat he never said anything about any lifting going on.

yeah, i'm using krylon, I think I may try the duplicolor stuff from now on till I get the compressor to start using good quality paint.

I have had problems with the krylon in the past for some reason it likes to lift even it's self especillay after sanding it, or clear over color I think it is a lacquer base paint

Well the duplicolor clear is a no go on the krylon black, all it did was instantly dry just like the krylon clear did, but it also fogged up white. So yeah, i'm thinking I may just have to buy some can air and try to use my new airbrush and see what I can do with that. What do you think?


I'm wondering if its the humidity thats messing stuff up?

yeah, I may. It may be easier to airbrush it you think? I know they have the can air for them, and some testors black? You think the duplicor clear would be a better base then the krylon? It didn't seem to lift, just fog and dry instantly, so no gloss. So just spray it, then paint over that, or should I sand it all off and start with the duplicor? The krylon and duplicolor are both acrylic.

i'm almost tempted to just spray the sponsons with the floresant yellow lexan paint I have, that stuff sticks to everything it seems like.

Testors schmestors punch a hole in a can of duplicolor right by the top with a small phillips screwdriver slowly untill the air pressure starts leaking out then enlarge the hole I have done this a bunch of times keep the can up right while doing this (do it outside) and put that in your air brush

Remember all the clear and blue marbles we used to have? thats where they came from.

Well i turned around and looked at it, and it actually looks better, the fog went away mostly, I'll let it dry overnight and see what it looks like, and its semi glossy, which I could polish out im sure. We'll see.
