I was running a cheap ebay battery in my hydromite it worked great you can get the info on it in my build thread
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

Ok, here is another video from the maiden voyage weekend run 2 from last weekend. It was hopping a little bit at the end.

I was able to fix my battery after I messed it up today, and am going to buy a new one. I got my new esc set up, just need some shrink wrap for the motor connectors. I resealed all the transom screws, and did the fuel tube trick on the drive cable to seal out water.

Check it out, got some carbon fiber plates from protechcomposites.com
The quality is very very good, they are super glossy on one side, and the other rough for adhearing. I am going to cut some for a support for the turnfin, as my washers started to sink into the paint, it will be like a big washer/support, then I am going to lay some down inbeween the sponson booms on the inside, for strength and for looks. I will use some of it on my hyromite also.

It was $20 shipped to my door, it came in 4x4 inch sheets in 4 thickness (this is the sample pack) 1.0mm 1.3 mm .5mm .25mm. I think it was a good deal for what you get, but its only shiny on one side.

I bought that cf sample pack before and use it all the time. Good stuff and quality.

Ok, I have put some carbon plate in the bottom of the battery tub, and under the stuffing tube, I used .25mm so it didn't take much away from battery space, in the pic it looks really wavey in the battery compartment, but it isn't. Then I cut 2 peices of 1.3mm carbon and sandwiched the turnfin bracket, in the pic it looks like a scratch in the plate, but its not its a glare or something. This made the turnfin mount very rigid.

Next I think I am going to make my servo hold down out if it, and I might put a strip of it on the hatches to keep them from flexing as much.

Ran it today, very good run, not a drop of water. In the vid it looks faster then it was going, but it was pretty quick. I'll post some pics of what I have done to it. Sorry for the quality of the video, got to buy a nice cam, but would rather spend that money and buy another boat Oh, and on the way home I hit all green lights, probably about 15 in total, pretty good huh, nice way to end the evening on the way home.

What do you think about detougeing a plastic x531 or x431? would detoungeing help reduce heat yet increase top speed?

A retreival dog! Now that's the best idea yet!

P.S. De-tongued X431s and Y531s work great. I've also had success trimming the diameter by a mm or two.

It looks faster in the video, but still quick. I bent the stuffing tube down a little to better align with the strut so now there is less friction in the shaft. The battery is about 2-3mm more forward. thats about it besides my CF braces on the turnfin. I think the speed is about the same as before, but the water in the last video was like glass.

It is hopping when I am taking off untill about 1/2 or so throttle, then it is like you saw in the video, on plane nicely. In the viedos from the designer, it didn't do that, I think there are a few more tweaks to do. It also sometimes flips over out of the blue, not sure if the turn fin hooks the water funny and flips. Or maybe my ride surfaces are too small, not sure.
