    Rebuild of my Blackjack 26

    Last year I tore apart my blackjack 26 original. My goal was to rebuild it into the SS conversion and to strengthen the Fiberglas. After stripping the boat and tearing off all of the crappy stickers, I cut out the battery boxes and lowered and relocated them into the rear of the boat. I built a wooden frame and fiberglassed it into the middle of the boat to strengthen the floor of the boat and re-epoxied the rest of the wood internals. I am in contact with my local airbrush artist to paint both my boat and it's trailer.

    I want to replace my motor and that is why I am posting this. I want to know what is the most powerful motor that I can buy that wont blow my stock 45amp . I have the money to only replace the motor. Also what prop should I use with the new motor suggestions. I know about octura x462 just don't have a good site to buy from. Any one from northern VA?

    That boat is pretty darn light, and doubles as an airplane, so you're gonna want the ability to move your batteries forward. Nor does this boat really require a big amp motor, I have been using an AMMO 2300, (bought here), and the stock ESC on 4s for around 3 years. That ESC is more robust than one might think, hopefully you have the programer, I even tried a 48mm prop There are members, and a club, (Capital) up your way, check the forums.
    The Blackjack26, takes A LOT of patience to get trimmed out, and forget about making sharp turns, good luck.

      I haven't been on here in a while but i am nearly complete with my build. I have built a sweet ride. I am hoping to be able to get up to about 65-75 mph. I bought the leopard and 180 esc from ose with an octura x462 prop. i have the power maxed out using 2 3s lips on a circuit for a total of 6s. i bought the new bj hatch from tiqueman and mounted it to the boat using 4 HD hatch screw mounts. I weighed the front down a bit to level the boats center of gravity and used liquid floatation foam to fill the front and the new hatch. i am sending the boat out to a professional airbrusher that i know in my area and the paint will blow your mind. I should have pictures of the completed build up in about 2 weeks when i get i back from paint and complete the final assembly. here are some before and during pics for right now.

                These were the pictures sent to me from my paint guy before he pinstriped the boat. I got it back yesterday and assembled the boat. I am stopping at the hobby shop today or tomorrow to get a new servo screw since I lost mine and to inspect my batteries that I recently purchased from them. I can't wait to see this puppy fly.

                  @Rplebuch,
                  If you don't mind my intrusion, what was the total cost of the airbrush paint job? Boat looks nice, like the updated hatch too!
                  Thanks and have a nice day.

                      The paint job cost me a total of $225 for the paint and for some putty job to fill in some ripples in the body work after sanding out the original blue paint. The airbrusher is local to me but is online if you want to check him out, www.airbrushgalore.com. He only uses house of kolor paints and does several coats of clear. The end result is simple incredible. I was concerned with my portion of the work on my boat with a weight concern but I floated it in the tub tonight and the boat is perfectly balanced on the water with the front end weighed down with lead sticks and foamed. Total weight is between 15 and 20 pounds. The 4 pole motor and 180 amp 2200kv leopard on two 3s 5000A batteries. The boat has a ton of torque.

                        did I read 15-20 pounds???
                        um... can you get enough flotation in it to be sure it don't go down?

                          like i said i placed it in my tub just to check the bouyancy of the boat and it perfectly level. It sits with the front end just above the rear of the boat and should plane rather easily. I am going to have to test it out in the real world scenarios for fine tuning but i am fairly certain that it will work nicely. i weigh down the front because of the power of this motor. i didn't want the front end to act as an airplane and do back flips. the two part floatation foam was purchased from funrcboats.com and fill the entire front end of the boat and along the inside rim of the boat around the hatch hole and also fills the hatch. The hatch is held on by 4 HD hatch screws. I had placed an order from use for 4 aeromarine cowl lock buttons but i will be unable to use them and i will be selling them as soon as i get them in case you are looking. I will also be selling the original esc and motor from the blackjack which was only used lightly for 1 season.

                            I tested the boat and I need to work on a few things to help the boat plane in the water. Trim the flex shaft so that I can adjust the angle down. And reposition the batteries to the middle of the boat as low I can get them into the boat. During the testing the boat was slow to start off and then once it planed it was gone I would put it near the 50+ mark at mid trigger. I didn't get to test it much because a storm brewed over me and I had to call it quits. I will test it again soon and hopefully have someone to record it so I can post the action for you guys to see

                              That paint job and trailer are amazing. This thread makes me want to work on mine again. I bought it without electronics and never ran it. I'd be interested in your stock esc and motor.
