41" Delta Force Racing Build - Nitro to Electric

Recently bought this hull off ebay in the UK for £30 or $50. It came with a load of old hardware, a 3/16 cable, stuffing tube, a few servos, and a lot of wear, tear and grime.
The engine mounts are in solid but I have decided to leave them there and make some kind of battery area between them.
I have been working hard on this boat for the past 2 days ripping things out, chiseling, cutting and sanding and now I am at a point at which I can get started.

I have had a look around and asked a few questions and this is the set-up I am thinking of

    HK 5698 1000kv Motor
240 Aquastar or 240 Fightercat ESC (undecided)
    8s 4s 5000mah 40c x 4
X455 or X460?? (I have a prop which came with the boat unknown brand)
1/4 Cable with 3/16 stepped end
    1/14 Stinger

I have gone around the boat repairing small cracks and chips with zpoxy, The hatch was the worst damaged, I have done a bit of re-enforcing on it but I would like to replace it for an FE closed one anyway.

The boat needs re-enforcing from the inside and a good paint job. I have the Carbon Kevlar weave here ready for the inside but I think I should do the paint first.

Here are a few pictures, what do you think? Advice appreciated.

The first picture in the 2nd lot of pics shows the transom and the holes made for hardware by the previous owner.
To me the shaft hole looks a bit high.

The shaft hole looks good to me. With a flush shaft output and swinging a big prop it will lift the transom and cause the boat to ride high and loose. By a elevating shaft placement, it will cause the back to be pushed into the water. Your motor setup looks good to me. It should go good. Keep the shaft output elevated. Later, MM.

Martin, what is a good paint and primer to use?

I try not to paint boats anymore due to most good paints that used to be used a number of years ago are no longer made due to the nastys in them. If you have access to spray equipment you can use 2 pack car paints but they are still dodgy to use without proper extration facilitys. I know some use rattle cans from Halfords but its only acrilic & isnt very hard when dry. On my wooden hydros i also use finishing resin on the wood & no paint.

Halfords is an Automotive Parts and accessories shop. They sell a lot of good stuff but their price is normally a 1/3 higher. I don't think it has any connection to Rob

I'm thinking Trago Mills should have some decent primer and spray paint. This place probably won't be known in the US.
I have a red mono so I need a different colour for this one. The green that was already on the boat in growing on me.

So I will be cracking on with putting the Carbon Kevlar Weave inside the hull soon. I am going with the Z Poxy formula
Should I use the finishing resin or the 30min resin?
