    Project "Bad A*$"

This project is back on for an end of season-winter build.

    42" Osprey mono
    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...g_n_Drive.html
    HK 5692 (TP Power) 1320Kv
    ESC: Undecided as of yet
Batteries: 8s by way of (4) 4000mah 4S1P (intending- open for debate) I may go 6S also. I know Im a little high on Kv but can adjust with smaller prop.
    Prop: Undetermined
    Propshaft: 1/4" cable/propshaft with a step down to 3/16"

G0ing to get a 1/4" Speedmaster drive one order. Undecided on gas vs nitro version as I cant figure out what the difference is???

I removed all the hardware. Theres wooden rails added. Nice fiberglass servo mount and some unknown wooden structure behind it. Going to clean her out and put a new piece of wood on the transom then cover it all with carbon/kevlar.

Not sure how to get that piece of "sponge wood" off the transom. I would like to replace it with a piece of 1/4" Lauan plywood. Its seen two struts and about to get a third and final.

Any idea what that wood structure is by the servo mount?

For the "sponge wood",I would use a dremal, course sandpaper, vaccum, and patience. The flapper wheels are handy for this.Maybe the sanding Drum.

As you mention thats a lot of rpm on 8s for a motor & boat of that size @ 39000 unloaded.

Martin is right. I'd definatey run it on 6s2p with a big prop.

I might reconsider on the motor end then. I got $100 tied up into it and should be able to get that back.

I'd leave that white stuff in the transom and just add a layer of CF over it. The only piece of hardware to stress the transom is the rudder and it has a large foot print. It's the only thing needing backing.

If you do add wood, make sure you can get bolts long enough to make it through.

I got all the wood stringers and crap out of the hull tonight. I need to do some fine grinding of the leftover resin glue before heading to the sanding block.

What is that stuff on the transom? Resin soaked spongue?

Let me know how you go with this! ive got the same hull and motor, but its a 1700KV one i was going to try and run on 5S

im stuck with the placement of the motor and batteries tho

Put the motor in the back and batts in front. Seems to make things simpler for CG adjustments but, it's just a preferrence. Shorter driveline is more efficient imo.

Thats what I did with my 40" mono and, I'm switching my DF33 this winter to the same thing. I don't like the motor up front anymore.

I got that pesky crap off the transom. It appears to be a fiber type substance. A little heat and some pulling with needle nose and she came out fairly easy.

My issue with just trying to cover over it was how wobble it was. Wherever a washer/nut was was sucked in to far also IMO. So out she came.

Now to make a proper wooden transom and get it epoxied in place. I got some Lauan wood used for underlayment of vinyl floors. However it seems to be rather cheap wood. Think I will check my aircraft grade plywood stash and if I dont have it buy it. I think 1/8" should be plenty as its going to get carbon/kevlar covered.
