    C1-Twister

    25.jpg
I bought this hull from a friend in Thailand. He has the mold and makes these hulls to order. Approx $190 US.
He told me he has not reached speeds over 100klm yet with this hull.
I would like to impress him and show him a video of his boat doing speeds @ or over 100klm.

It is layed up with polyester resin and i pressume will require more strenght to sustain these speeds.
I was thinking to add carbon fibre to the inside for strenght and visual look. Or maybe carbon/kevlar.
I dont know if i should lay any timber inside the hull for strenght also? battery trays or something. I can work with alloy too.

Im open for suggestions on this build, i thought i would get the advice from advanced BL modlers who have extensive knowledge on set ups, as im still trying to learn all i can, and i dont want to waste money on an incorrect setup being a learner.
    import usb 171.jpg
I was thinking of installing what i have laying around already:-
    2x Feigao XL 11T 1516KV motors with 2x 3S 5000 25/40c extreme power Lipo's with Y connection for 6S.
Not sure what esc's i should be using, however i have some Seaking 180A HV's on there way. Or i have an Etti navy race 150 opto in for repair (blown caps) and could purchase another 2nd Etti to match.

Im not sure what size cable would be suitable, or perhaps wire drive would be better?
I would like to buy MHZ drives but i dont have that sort of cash to spend. Same goes for Shulze ESC's so please dont suggest NEU motors or expensive set ups. Im trying to build a reliable fast cat, on a budget of around $1000.

The transome's to the rear edge is 120mm, i thought you want the props clear of the rear for less drag and clean water, and the drives as close to the inside of the sponsons for best results. also raising the drives maybe a little off the bottom is a good thing with larger props?
    import usb 175.jpg
I have some small counter props i wish to try first and then go from there. the numbers say DHP 432/3R & the other DHP 432/3. Once i know the correct size props to run i will go for a metal compound for strenght.
    props.jpgturbo-001.jpg
Would i be better off keeping it lighter and go for some Leopard 380 size motors and smaller LiPo packs insted?

I will be posting the build process and results with a vid or two in the end.

Satan, u can contact him in Phuket TH.
Well due to the high number of replys and sugestions on OSE.... i will have to go with an idea from a friend, Manuel at PBS-Passau. He has suggested to me to set up 2x 9XL Feiago's on 12S. That should easy brake 60MPH. ! And sound awesome doing it too!

2x seaking 180a HV v2's arrived today, think im going to use two Feiagos 11XL 1516 i have already. got some ceramic bearings to replace on them on order, they should be here soon also. The nanotech batts look ok, think i'll give them a go.

Also having trouble with purchasing some long outdrives, or stingers. I need them to be at least 110mm long to get the props to clear the back of the boat. After reading a post about radio signal block with carbon fibre, im going to use kevlar to be safe. I think not running your TX ariel out of the boat is asking for trouble. may look ugly, but not as ugly as a boat that has lost signal travelling at over 60 mph!

Thanks Chris, i have just filled a $169 cart for all the parts i need to finish it off. I really like the price, parts and the hulls! and i was going to buy a hk genesis, i think my second project will be the 41" cat, thats bigger than the 37" hk G. AS im in Aus the postage stings me at $77. maybe i will add a hull and get him to fill it with the parts, and shipping may be cheaper. 110mm stingers are on the list !

                    Alfa Spirit,
Same colour but completly different. This hull has been designed and made by hand by a man in Thailand. But im not sure how its going to handle at high speeds. It looks more like a Class-1 offshore cat from the 80's. I will get some more progress done after work today.
heres a link to his website, http://www.phukethobbymodel.com/uplo...od&productId=2
i would luv to buy the tunnel F-1 he has also !!
Im sooo hooked on boats...... Thanks for your replys !
                    Clint.

Well home 4:30, internet browsing until 11:30. Time flys when your having fun.
So i have decided to go with the stuts hydrolift 1100 from toughracing. Thank you Alfa spirit! The FC struts are going to fall short of the props out in the clear, so im waiting for a reply from TR as to what the measurments are. I really need around 140mm to hang them out not 110mm like i thought. Does anybody know the strut lenght on the TR hydrolift 1100's ? Dam they nice! scale looking too like the MHZ's but half the price. If i can afford $113 per esc, im sure i can afford $118 per strut.
I also found a neat site with cheap parts, paypal cart and awesome range on L&R flex drives. Kintech Racing. they even carry spare parts for common production boats wow!

With these great sites and Steve's parts from OSE, i will have no problem finding parts to build this C-1 Twister. Not to mention the best rc boat forum.
This is the layout im going to use for my cat.
                      2012-02-09 23.18.54.jpg
Im thinking of some sort of sliding lipo trays to move the cg for trimming. I dont have much of a choice to place the Huge esc's. They need to fit under the cockpit area in the lid.
I will be making my own mounts, or look at purchasing some of those carbon cat hull mounts to resin in. Drives will be 3/16 for strenght.

Got my struts 110mm long 3/16 drive. Going to run cable with one reverse wind.
Mounted the struts up to see how they will sit. need some shims or need to build up the mounting area to correct the side angle.

I installed two dual water pick ups into the hull, and have purchsed some motors from OSE. 2x Leopard 4074 1800kv . bonus free wter cooling jackets. each will run on 6s.
                            2012-05-27083324.jpg

Also from KintecRacing i have ordered 2x large water cooled cat motor mounts, 3/16 flex cable R&L rotation, carbon fibre low profile stand up servo mount.

I have to correct the transome stinger mounting area's by sanding or filler so they mount straight and flush.
Then i will install the 9/32 brass stuffing tubes with treflon liners, motor mounts and add stuffing tube stays.

Any suggestions on counter rotating props? I was thinking some cnc 40mm 3 blade or 45mm 2 blade?
