I'm building up my Cat. I'm working on the steering right now. Approximately how many degrees of rudder turning is ideal?

30" Cat, 9xl, xpower 100, cf45 prop for now, 12-16 nimh. btw its a Futaba 3305 servo (125oz/in torque)
SO I'm guessing degrees is a matter of preference. Straight lines might want less. Oval racing might be bias to the right. sport driving might want more both ways. Did I hit the nail on the head? Or am I out in left field?
I'll be doing more sport driving and showing off in front of the neighbors at the house on the river. My prop hasn't been wet in a while.Comment

none of the above. Dial your boat to be straight, if your rudder is not centered you will lose power as the thrust from the rudder will reduce your power and speed. You will wish to have a small degree of rudder control as too much will end up in a boat out of control

Like most things, its a compromise.
You dont want too much rudder angle from 'lock to lock' or the boat will be twitchy, particularly if you are a bit jerky on the controls, but you need enough angle to be able to take evasive action at times.
I usually aim for about 20 degrees either side of centre.
