25inch Scale Hydro build

hey guys, im building a scale hydro of the atlas van lines hydro, im using the plans from G Finlay.

i had the use of a laser cutter to cut the 25 inch hydro pieces and a plotter to print full 13th scale instructions.

The difference in sizes...

didnt have a building block so i found the most leveled surface in my house and this is what i did after taking pics...

Looks nice, I just started a hydro build a couple of weeks ago, I sent the plans out to get lazer cut, and wow was it nice that way, and inexpensive. I didn't go for the RRR build though, I wish I had the time like some of the guys on there, the detail is crazy that they are doing to their boats. Well good luck, and ya might want to lay down some wax paper, your counter top looks too nice, even though glue would be easy to get it off of it.

Looking good. I have used sewing needles or t-pins to hold things in place while gluing them, maybe try that, and I use titebond for most of the gluing, and CA for the parts that need a instant bond. I tried to not use ca as much because it is hard to sand, especially on soft wood like balsa. What are you going to power it with?

sv27 motor and esc atm or feigo 8xl, 6xl or ammo 36-56-2600kv... on 14 cells. haha.

yeah im using medium ca on the inside where i need to fill gaps and just to make sure it doesnt come apart, i actually used eoxy on the sponsons.

im waiting to make and order on ose and fiberglass a lot of the strength of my boat, and im going to glass it once im done with the strengthening on the inside.

I started with the same plans also but mine is 24" long and I cut it all out by hand yes laser cutting looks so much easier :)

I am not sure what motor I will run but there is room for my lipos down both sides beside the motor

I have it all skinned now with just the opening for the cowl left

I am stuck at what would be the best way to make a cowl to cover the motor and be strong enough for taking off and on all the time

keep the pics coming as I am waiting to see the cowl build :)

for my lazer work, i use this outfit. very reasonable priced and he has all the wood you need. balsa, spruce, plywood, ect... and he can size your plans to whatever your specs are.
there are plenty of free plans out there to use, monos, hydros, riggers, motor mounts, and cats;

im the midst of fiberglassing the seams. then some foam, and the deck goes on!!
