    FC Super Daytona twin build

Just wanted to share the start of my new twin cat build. Looking forward to this one. Going to take it slow and hopefully steady. Made templates out of clear lexan for the drives and did a mock up for now. Im going to start making the rest of the templates for the carbon braces soon. Here are a few pics of the boat for now. I'm in to follow this one. Good luck with the build...that thing is a monster!
Did it come with the Kevlar inside or do you do that? Looks great.
What are the plans for power?

I'll be watching myself bruiser! I've had my eye on this one for some time! Even considered selling both of my CF Daytona's to get one! They come lined with the kevlar/CF if you tell Ben you want it that way. I've asked him to keep me informed when stock arrives! Very cool!

Congrats on building on of Ben's monsters, I have hull number 2=) I was going to start a build thread on mine but before I do we are going to do some saw sponsons on it and take a mold then break them off. Out of interest what drives did you buy for it? I have both MHZ and HPR ones but neither are optimal without modification.

The drives are the ones off bens site that are made for this hull. Going to be using the scale rudder that he should have in stock soon as well. Always enjoy seeing the large FE build threads, looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I know you've got a nice collection of LMT's! I'm a little jealous

What do you mean SAW sponsons? The sponsons on it should be perfect for a SAW app.

Some pics of the transom plates and rudder plate. Attempting to cover all the carbon parts in the carbon kevlar fabric. made the rudder fabric larger to tie in the hulls seam in the rear.IMG_4354.JPGIMG_4363.JPG a look before it gets a trimming. IMG_4360.JPG Thanks for looking, Bruiser

You must have got lucky and asked at the right time, they have never been in the store=) As for motors, the LMT's while being the cream of my motor crop so to speak, I have a number of others (major understatement here lol). I will probably end up putting either twin 2028's or twin 5692 TP powers in this original SD as it's not strong enough for saw use, and use the new one out of the mould as a saw boat with twin 3080's. I'm a long way behind you tho!

I mean sponsons designed more optimally for nothing but top speed at the sacrifice of all handling characteristics, the SD still has a relatively pointed sponson design, not unlike the HPR hulls actually (I have a saw version of Hanspeter's 135) and as much as I'm sure the sponson could be pushed over 200klm/h no problems, the experience of other people's speeds with different shapes is enough for me to experiment to fine out. Time will tell, I have to walk before I can run=)

Well I'm definitley not looking for the speeds you must be looking for. But in my limited opinion, with the proper bracing this boat will be very strong and capable of handling high speed crashes. We will see.

Well I have one of HPR's saw 135's which is the same as Manuel's boat he was selling, and he only had twin 3040's I have twin 3080's and his hull had cracked and been repaired and strengthened a few times. Based on how easily my genesis cracked with 70mph crashes a few weeks ago I'd still say that this boat will need some heavy bracing to handle anything over 70-80mph, and a complete redesign over 100-120mph. Hey I'm not saying I'll be running over 120mph in a few months but it's definitely a long terms goal so I figure I may as well build it for that from the outset:-)
