Help needed! What shall I build?

    Hey Guys,

I'm new to the world of RC boats but have owned many Nitro trucks. I am looking to build/buy myself my first boat and also my first electric vehicle.

The pond that I will run in most regularly is around 60metres long and around 30metres wide but I would also like to take it into open water as I live on a nice island with plenty of the stuff.

What hull shape would be best for me as a novice and the conditions I run in? What sort of power should I be looking at for the size of pond I have availible?

    Thanks
    Jonny

for the 'pond' I wouldn't want to go bigger than the super vee27(30-35mph) as you'll run out of water in a hurry. so somewhere from say 22" (7.2-7.4v nominal) to say 28". there are a number of nice boats in that range (a.k.a. 6-8 cell)
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

Do you have any links to the UFO hull? I can't seem to find it!

theres a link to the UFO hull. Click on it picture and it shows you a setup. Also the traxxas villain is a zippy little boat thats fun. But its kinda slow compared to others. Just throwin some options out there

I frequent the traxxas forums and i have heard that. I have two Villains now an EX and a 7.2v. I like them. They can take a beating. I love my SV27 alot more then my villains. Its kinda fun to push the villain to its limits.

Would the Sidewinder Mono be a better long term choice as it has the ability to upgrade to a more powerful motor running 12 Cells?

The UFO is a 6-8 Cell 21" and the Sidewinder Mono is a 6-12 Cell 26". Like I say I have infinate access to sea water as I live on a small island so the size of the pond isn't my limitation.

                    The Sidewinder is here http://www.finedesignrc.com/hullsh20.asp

                    Thanks
