A Gorgeous 31.75" Toysport Triton Build

Naveed raced in Great Britian with the stepped hull Triton, but wanted to have a non-stepped hull for NAMBA P-Mono. The "Americanized" Triton has no steps , more freeboard, and is wider (but still has a flood chamber - let's not rehash that!)

He wanted me to turn this :

I used a Rearwheelin Randy prototype CF motor mount I had been saving for such a build project. Tapped the motor mount side rails and put a CF speed control mount on top for the T-180. A bit of work, but came out really clean.

CF servo mount : (you can just see the CF plate I put on the transom for reinforcement)

Used the nifty CF battery trays and "one wrap" velcro straps. With the flood chamber hull, this was tricky !

Also seen is the nifty shaft support. I went with a 9/32" teflon lined tube stepped down to .250 to enter the shortened (to line the drive dog with the rudder blade) Spd stinger. Put a slight bend in the stuffing tube to minimize cable slap.

Since this is an all CF hull, mounted the Rx in back and extended the antenna outside of the hull. ( We'll range check before running)

There was so much more to this build, but my camera goofed the pictures. (OK it was me, not the camera)

This is absolutely the best looking boat I ever laid hands on & the all CF hull is solid as a rock. Naveed and I will get her wet soon & I'll post pictures.

    Feigao 9XL for testing purposes
    T-180

    OSE turn fin
TFL inline strut rudder minus the strut

      Very interesting!

I've been thinking seriously of picking up a Toysport hull (Ozone or Synchron) after the holidays for a winter build project. I won't offer any opinions on the use of a self-righting hull in racing, but I know I'd sure like to have one for sport boatin'!

If I can scrape up the dough, I'm going to get one.

      Take it easy,

I've ran with Naveed's stepped Synchron and Triton. Freaky twitchy both. Go for the 31.75" non-stepped Triton like this one - available in FG or CF. This CF hull is soooo fine !
Naveed's got a "guy" in GB that may be able to hook you up.

that's the kintec support isn't it?
how solid and user- friendly (ie getting the screws in little spots) is it?

I told Jan that this shaft support should get the "Product of the Year" award ; it's so cool ! The side supports are vertically slotted to adjust the height and a set screw holds the shaft in place. It's currently configured for a .250 shaft ( I drilled mine out for the 9/32" shaft). He plans smaller I.D.'s soon. Very user friendly.
