    Teddyboy's Insane 34 Mono Build

Ted wanted a rippin' P-Mono. Chose the solid Neu 1521 1.5D and the trusty T-180. Herve (Cacofonix) crafted a beautiful 4" rail mount incorporating some suggestions I gave him to make it more installer friendly. It was so gorgeous that I configured the rails to show off its lines.

Building rails takes careful measurement, lots of patience, and a belt sander in the kitchen. Lining up the motor/rail assembly for PERFECT ALIGNMENT of the flex-to-collet mating is time consuming but essential to have a drag-free shaft.

    DSC02748.JPGDSC02750.JPG

The bonding process is also time consuming and messy. Taping up the non-bonding surfaces avoids those pesky epoxy fingerprints. I use West Systems G-Flex which is 24 hour cure, so the multiple applications that include fiberglass tape on the bonds takes several days.

For the battery box hold-down post, I use t-nuts with an "anti-rotation" screw to keep them from rotating when tightening or untightening. Details !!

Components laid in for alignment & securing. All stainless nuts & bolts are used.

Rear Hardware; Spd stinger, shortened to line up drive dog with rudder blade. Dual pickup Spd 60/90 rudder and XL fins keeps boat planted in the turns. Dual outlets up high to see output while underway (side of hull outlets get obscured by spray coming up from hull). Servo rod pass-through is 3/8" brass tube to minimize binding.

Shameless self-promotion on battery hold-down piece. (Hold-down rod can be re-positioned if batterys get shifted forward for CG adjustments.)

Sleek lines with trial (not the normal) windshield

Thanks Larry. I thought about the comment you made a while ago ( I think it was you ?) about how you prefer side water outlets when I put the water outlets up high - I like them on the side too, but they're hard to judge the output if spray from the hull obscures them so up they went

Hey Tony, Do my eyes deceive me or are the strakes shorter than the hull I have?? Has the mold been changed?

Wasnt me. I like them out the rear up high. Mine are mounted high like yours(Teds) only on the rear just behind the hatch.

Late model hulls have shorter strakes.
