Got a bare Spartan hull for cheap, so why not build it my way.

I didn't post this in the Spartan sub forum because it's neither a RTR or a question. If the mods feel that it needs to be moved then please move it.

I picked up this bare white hull from the5, a member of this forum NIB. He gave me a hell of a deal(thanks dude!!) so I figured why not build it from scratch, my way. The lid should be here tomorrow from Tower. The cooling jacket, motor coupler, and props should be here tomorrow as well from OSE. Picking up rudder linkage, servo, and prop dog from hobby shop later this week.

I didn't want to use the center tray but the boat flexes a bit too much without it. I was surprised how sturdy the boat became with the tray not even tightened down yet. The trim tabs, rudder, turn fins, and strut are from HK. The motor is from HK as well and is an XK4082 1600kv motor(though the box says 1500kv) and the ESC is a Suppo 200A "Birdie". I'm going to add support to the back of the motor after the jacket arrives. I pulled the shrink wrap off the ESC and noticed the cooling plate was touching 2 of the 3 motor leads, though it does have some type of coating over the entire ESC in case it gets wet. I popped the cooling plate off, sanded the FET's flat, and mounted it back on using heat transfer paste. I'm going to "plastic dip" it just in case. I'm also going to just silicone around the inside, around the stuffing tube for now, to allow me to adjust height as well as angle. Once the boat is trimmed I will throw some BJ weld to hold it in place.

Going to try 4S with a large prop(maybe 48mm), them move up to 6S with smaller props if I don't see the speeds I expect from 4S, 2P. Worse comes to worse, I can throw all the hardware and electronics on a 32" "Bling Rocket" from Fightercat

Anyways, here are the pictures. I will add pictures as it gets finished and I hope to get her wet this weekend. I'll post video for those interested. Input and advice welcome!!

Got her all finished up and thew her in the water yesterday. It went well other than having a breach in the hull somewhere. I rushed the build and never dunk tested the hull without electronics, with the hatch taped, and I lost my JR servo from water that came in just running around. It's not like I don't have a pool in the back yard to submerge the hull and check for leaks

Anyways, here is some video of it running on 2, $16 5000mah 20C Zippy packs, for 4S. She ran like a dream. I forgot my parallel adapter so I could not run 4S, 2P. And then the servo went out so I couldnt run 6S. But all in all for what it cost me, I love this boat!!!!

Chud, I tape the lid. I don't think boats should have body posts. I just cut off those tabs on the lid to make taping a little easier. Plus, I don't have reverse.

          Jacked1, the motors are great!
