I first built my Whiplash using the spec UL-1 motor, then later converted to the faster sport hydro (1515 1y, 240 LV Hydra). Faster is lots funner. I plan on using my UL-1 for spec class and my Whiplash for the faster or higher powered P Sport class (I get the classes mixed up somtimes). Great job on the build!

      1st Race Results:

I finally raced the boat Sunday. I ran 6 laps before the race to make sure my water leak problem was solved. I used a de-tongued X442, and Hyperion 25C 4000 mha packs. My sealing work reduced the water inside of the boat to practically nothing. The boat ran well, but looked a bit slow to me, draw was only 2300 mha. During, the 1st heat I ran the X445 and finished in 2nd place. Power draw was about 3000 mha. On to heat 2. I am not a very good driver so I lost momentum comming off of the corners. Too much turning left and over correcting. I ended up with another 2nd place. This is a new experience for me. I used to try to surrvive a heat, now I am actually racing in the heat. In heat 3 I was able to run in 2nd place near the leader the entire time. I used some Turnigy 40C 5000 mha batteries this time. The boat seemed to be faster with the bigger batteries. I had a chance to win if I could just smooth out my driving! Heat 4 was a disaster. I botched the start and just ran at the rear. On the start of lap 3 the boat just quit running. Fortunately the problem was only broken wire on the speed control (+) bullet connector. Overall I am very happy with the performance of the Stealth Sport 20! The boat is already competitive, and there is more fine tuning things that can be done.

Very nice. Found a guy on Ebay that is shipping some Spraymax 2K primer. Cost me a pretty penny but, I figure it's worth it.

I guess the place I originally ordered it from could not ship it to Canada anymore...

Thanks for all the info and nice build!

Sorry if I missed it but are you running two 2S 4000mah in series? Is there room for two 4S 45C 5000mah wired in parallel?

Not sure, I am now running 2 2S 5000 mha packs. Using about 3000 mha in a 6 lap heat. 4S packs might fit, but it would be tight height wise.

I tried 2 Hyperion 4s 4200 35c packs and they were they were right up against the hatch in the front. I'm running 2-2s PolyQuest 5050 35c batteries and it's easier getting the hatch on and off.

                Motor mount question...

When you get a motor mount like this does it usually come "pre-bent" requiring you to locate the stuffing tube to match or do you bend it to align with the stuffing tube/drive wire? It looks like Mojo aligned his to the stuffing tube...

I'm also curious as to how you secure the aluminum mount to the floor of the boat.

Still deciding if I want to tackle a hull only build...I've read this thread over and over - but still have questions...

                  Any Red Flags?

Does anyone see any gotcha's using the following power system:
                  Neu 1515 1Y (2200KV)
                  Castle Hydra (Not ICE!) 240
                  10 AWG wire
                  6.0mm bullets
                  Thunder Power 45C 2S 5000mah (2 wired in series)

Can someone please suggest a prop to start with? Oct X445?

                  Thank you in advance.

Sounds like a good setup. I'm running a Leopard 4074 2200kv, Seaking 180, 5.5 bullets, 2 2s Polyquest 5050 35c batteries, M445 prop. If you read all the posts on the Stealths here alot of guys use and have good results with the M445 props. Make sure you use a good strong turn fin. Several of us including myself have used the Aquacraft UL1 turn fins and had problems with them flexing and bending on the Stealths. Not knocking the UL1 fins, They work great on the UL1s and other hydros. My bother-in-law has one on his hydro and it works fine.

                      I used this mount http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=etti-h010
Very easy to line up. I layed out everything including batteries and radio gear to get the COG right or at least close. I first epoxied my mount in then installed the stuffing tube.
If you do a search for "Stealth" on here there are several helpful build threads with alot of good pictures.

To be on the safe side Castle recommends using more mah. I would use two 4s packs wired parallel (atleast 4200mah each). The extra weight will also help hull be more stable at higher speeds.

I like the m445 and m545 props. The x445 will work, but it has a larger hub.

Do not use Castles BEC. I would use seperate nimh receiver pack.

Detox - I would love to use two 4S wired in parallel but the concern is they might be too thick to let the hatch fit properly...thanks for the heads up on the BEC issue. I have some 5 cell NiMh receiver batt packs to power the radio and servo.

I second that. I'm running (2) 4S Hyperion packs with a very similar setup and an M545. Need the extra mah.

She rips, but Mike's latest setup blows my mind. He runs circles around me with a UL-1 motor and pretty darn close to top end as well!

I would not try to bend that mount. Try to match your tube to the mount bracket.

As far as motor mounts are concerned I would HIGHLY reccomend one of Jim William's mounts... Little more expensive, but they are excellent mounts! Jim will be getting much more of my business in the future! One of these days I will get some pictures of my PT Stealth posted for all to see. Getting the weight and CG correct is the toughest part.

                                Later,
                                Mike
