As promised... Here is the restoration work progressing on my 1967 Parco O-Rings Miss 1/10th Scale that I purchased from Brent Hall (first picture), who purchased it from Kevin Humphrey, who purchased it from Jeff Howard, who built it and used to race it with Classic Thunder!
Jeff is a MASTER builder, and the hull construction is top-notch, and VERY strudy, especially considering how LIGHT, LIGHT, LIGHT this hull is. In one it it's last outtings, it apperently had a run-in with a dock, so it had some impact damage on the right sponson/deck. I have that all fixed now, and am just spending some time with sanding, and filling, and sanding, and filling, and sanding... and filling... my FAVORITE PART!
Once I get it close to my liking, which will NOT be perfect... let's face it... these old boats were NOT glossy show pieces in real life... they were wood boats... painted with brushed on paint... and were RACED by mechanics with GREASY HANDS, running old WWII motors that spit soot and oil and fuel all over the place... so getting it PERFECT really wouldn't be SCALE now, would it??
Once I get the base finished to my liking... I'll start shooting on the paint and make some new graphics for it. Jeff sent me the graphics files, which he made. They are a little rough (large pixels), so I may spend some time zoomed in in a Paint program or something like that to see if I can sharpen them up, but otherwise, they are all there.
Would REALLY like to find good pics of this hull from 1969, as it had a reversed color scheme what I like better, but in lieu of finding those, I'll stick with the 1967 theme... The paint colors are standard Duplicolor colors, so they are easy to find, paint, and touch up...
Here we go!!
