    DF26 Build Assistance

    Hi all,
I have been involved with FE boats for a very short time(Feb '11) and loving it! I started with the AQ Ul-1...one of the preferred newbie boat well...after being invited to a weekend run with the good folk from HOTMBC group here in Texas(great group of guys) the fever took off and the following week after seeing a few Insane FE30's run I purchased one that Tony(propperchopper) is currently building which will be ready next week I made the leap of faith a couple of weeks ago and decided to try a build so here I am not knowing anything! here's a few pics to get started.

I decided to work with Carbon/Kevlor fiber with this build even though it may not be necessary I wanted the experience.

I am using the Speedmaster hardware system. I'm now wondering if it's to much for a DF26? To me it doesn't look like I have a choice using trim tabs if I wanted even though not necessary from what I've read? has anyone used this hardware with trim tabs that your aware of?Also, another boater commented that some are shortening the strut for 26"? I would rather not attempt this as I'm not sure how to? comments please?IMG00018-20110818-0954.jpgIMG00021-20110818-0956.jpgIMG00022-20110818-0957.jpgIMG00024-20110818-0959.jpgIMG00026-20110818-0959.jpg

Clueless1. I am "clueless2" in many ways. i am a few hours ahead of you in the same build... Same hardware as well. From what I have heard and read, mounting the rudder as close to center without prop interference is the best. I have mounted mine pretty much stacked nest to the stinger mount/base. I am sure others will confirm.....

What is your electronics set-up? Prop ideas? Battereies? 4s?

I am using SV 27 motor, and a Swordfish 120A controller on 4S, using a X637 prop, with No trim tabs, tried using a larger prop but, this hull has bad torque roll with large props, works better with small props, I would on a next build, put the motor near the rear and the batteries down the center line of the boat, NOT like a SV configuration as it is now.
There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!

The only thing I've committed to was an 1800KV proboat motor I bought yesterday.I also have some 4000mah 45-90c 4S1P on there way. I haven't bought an ESC yet? Any ideas here would be helpful as well. So, I'm guessing trim tabs won't fit?

I built mine without trim tabs because it would be a very tight fit, just remember to use a small prop and you will be ok. Buy a Swordfish 120A controller and programmer from this site.
I will have to post them later

RPM-one more before I head home for the day....how for down do I mount the strut from the bottom? or do I use the seam line at the top for placement? Also, Are you using the speedmaster strut? I was wondering if the length is an issue?

A great hardware system for this boat is the Solinger strut and rudder, leaves you plenty of room for trim tabs and turn fins, but it's very hard to get hold of these days.

Why don't you ask the guys from HOTMBC for help. I'm sure they could steer you in the right direction for putting together the boat.

Darin Jordan had a build where he shaved off the space needed to mount a low profile trim tab. page 51 or so. Posted as "...25.5" Mono". I might do the same....

7500RPM.... What do you consider a small prop for this setup Clueless1 has going? You consider the X637 small? Or you talking X432 or X632..ish? Sorry Clueless, I have selfish reasons for these questions as well. But I figure they apply to you as well....

I installed the Rudder and strut today As far as the turn fins go...I'm not sure the angle?Would I use the angle of the hull as the mount angle? does it make sense? Also, I noticed most are cutting strut length down...I'll save that question for later.
