I would like to show you all my latest work. I started last summer to build a 40" Cigarette type hull. I had in hand a glass-polyester hull and I had the opportunity to make a mold in order to build a full carbon one. I started my project by carefully inspecting the polyester hull for any defects and after everything was perfect I laid the hull a rich layer of wax. After the wax I laid with a big brush two layers of P.V.A in order to have my hull ready for the molding procedure.
I used white gel coat, 4 layers of polyester and glass, with some wooden outside aids in order to keep my molds as stiff as I can get. After the finish of the three parts of the mold (hull, deck & hatch) I followed the same procedure inside them with wax and P.V.A. For building my new boat I used one thin layer of black gel-coat and two layers of 180gr/m2 carbon fiber cloth laid with epoxy resin.
The hull finally , fully assembled and empty of any hardware and electronics came at 1600gr. The polyester one that I have was 2200gr.
