    VS-1 FE Build

I Picked up a new VS-1 Hull from Kintec racing Saturday and started my FE conversion, I already had a K&B 8686 Drive and 5190 adjustable mount. I knew I wanted everything as low in the hull as possible and I wanted alot of adjustability for and aft for the 4s Lipo, I plan on running the steering servo in the back. I need to pick up some plywood to continue any further but here is where I am at now.

I'd mount the servo and rx right at the front, use a pull/pull cable system, try to keep the mass of the battery as close to the cg of the boat as possible.
Cut down the lower unit also, no need for the exhaust portion, saves a lot of weight as well.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

My VS-1 has the servo in the back and the lipo in the front - does better than 51 mph and is quite stable. I am using a stock K&B outboard with a Prather 215 prop and a F-8XL - T-120.

I am pretty pleased with it set up with the servo in the back, I never liked the cable set-ups anyway, I am running a UL-1 2030kv motor with a 90amp Seaking and a 42 x 55 aquacraft prop. I had it in the water again this morning and I love it. I do have to run the lipo as far forward as possible to keep the nose down.

I plan on cutting down exhaust section of the outdrive but I need to come up with another water pickup first

I ran it again this afternoon down at the Kintec racing testing site and it works awesome so I think I will leave mine stock also.
The only time I had any trouble was when I hit a large fish that jumped out of the water in front of it !!!!

                      Hey Pete,

Great build thread. Planning on doing the same thing myself in a month or so. One question though, when you cut out the foam to get the battery box nice and low in the hull, did you beef up the bottom (double up on the plywood or something) to strengthen things or did you just leave the existing plywood forming the underside of the hull as the bottom of the box?

I just brushed on a layer of epoxy to help add some strength and seal it but it probably didn't need it.

Just picked up a VS on the weekend, thinking about joining the front and back plate on the bottom, bit of strength and remove the little step at the back for a bit less drag.
Anybody think a bit of 1/64 ply on the running surface of the stumble blocks would change things? Just a bit of added protection for the balsa from floating crap.
Would you mind measuring the height of the motor adapter? I like that setup a lot but I have an idea for a water cooled mount I'd like to try, figure I might as well start with an idea that can use a widely available factory collet.
Excited about this one, a nice step up from the HotShot I currently have.
                          Thanks
